No offense to Ms.Thornhill, but Botanical Sciences has got to be the worst class in existence.
Thank goodness it's over at least. I was walking to the Quad from the nurse since I almost got my finger bit off by one of the plants. I looked across the walkway and saw the new girl, Wednesday, walking in the opposite direction. There was the sound of stone grinding against stone, and I looked up. One of the gargoyles was being pushed off the edge. Nobody seemed to be pushing it, but by the time it falls, it would fall on top of Wednesday.
Apparently, she heard the scraping too, and looked up, standing there.
Like an idiot.
I grabbed her arm and yanked her out of the way, and then I felt somebody run into me, causing me and whoever decided to do that to tumble onto the stone floor. I looked up and there was Xavier on top of me. "Well, hello there," I said, looking him in the eye. "Fine day on the floor, isn't it?"
Xavier grinned, getting up and holding out a hand. I took it and got up, turning my hand to look at Wednesday, who had already left.
Xavier turned around to look at the remains of the gargoyle before looking back at me. "You alright?"
I smacked him on the arm lightly "Says the guy who came barreling into me. Did Ajax get the hangover pills to you?"
He nodded "I got them to Kent earlier." He looked down at my hand "What happened?"
"Carnivorous plants. I feel like they have it out for me." We started to walk down the corridor towards the Quad. He snorted lightly "I mean, they could be."
It was silent for a few minutes as we headed down the hallway.
"Did you know that ravens can remember faces?"
"Maybe that's why you remember people so well."
I looked at him, my face in mock shock "Did you just call me a bird?"
"Maybe.."
"I swear on my great-grandmother, Thorpe, I will throw out your paintbrushes!"
"Don't bring my paintbrushes into this!" He laughed, ruffling my hair. I moved his hand, pulling my beanie from out of my blazer and putting it on my head "Speaking of paintbrushes, how's the mural going?"
"It's going well. I'm almost done with it. How's the song?"
I shrugged "Ajax should have the beats to me by tonight so I can start the editing."
"Yeah, about that..." A voice said from behind them. I turned around and saw Ajax
"Oh no... What happened?"
"My hard drive got corrupted and the new one won't be here till after the Rav'n" he said sheepishly.
"Don't tell me that the beats and Enid's keyboard were on that-"
"They were..."
"Welp, time to improvise." I sighed, looking back at the Quad. Since it was a free period, quite a few people were gathered in their cliques, the new girl nowhere in sight.
