Chapter 9

It was Meredith's first day back after bed rest and she was definitely looking forward to being in an OR again and treating patients.

To Derek's surprise Meredith got up half an hour earlier than she had to, to get ready for work, Derek knew Mer was looking forward to work but not this much.

"Mer... stay in bed with me, we don't have to get up yet, we still have half an hour." Derek mumbled, half asleep.

"Derek I need to get ready for work, I need to go in early to find some good cases." Meredith said heading towards the bathroom to take a shower.

"Meredith you don't have to find some good cases, just come back in bed." Derek groaned.

"Derek, no, I'm going to work early, it's my choice, not yours." Meredith argued.

"Okay, okay I'm sorry." Derek sighed, not wanting to argue with his pregnant and hormonal girlfriend.

Derek just buried his head under the pillows while Meredith took a shower.

The alarm went off and Derek slowly got out of bed and also took a shower while Meredith was downstairs, with George and Izzie.

After showering, Derek got dressed, did his hair and went downstairs. Everyone was in the kitchen eating breakfast apart from Meredith.

"Meredith do you want me to make you breakfast?" Derek offered, heading towards the cupboard to make his muesli.

"I'm not hungry." Meredith declined.

"You sure?" Derek offered once more.

"Yes Derek I'm sure." Meredith confirmed.

While everyone was eating, Meredith stood up and headed for the front door.

"Mer where are you doing?" Izzie asked.

"Work!" Meredith shouted from the front door.

"But that's not until another 30 minutes." Izzie yelled back at her.

"I know Iz, see ya at work." Meredith replied, exiting the house.

George and Izzie glared at Derek.

Derek glared back at them both, "What?"

"Meredith..." George said.

"Oh she going in early to find some good cases since she hasn't been at work for over a week." Derek explained, placing his empty bowl in the sink.

"Makes sense." George smiled.

"That means George, we need to rush to work to find some good cases before Mer takes them all." Izzie stated.

"Good point." George replied, leaving his bowl at the kitchen table, rushing towards the front door with Izzie.

Derek was left alone in the house and mumbled to himself, "Oh Interns they do get excited."

Meredith went straight to the locker room and met up with her best friend. Cristina greeted Meredith with a smile.

"Hey Mer."

"Heyy." Meredith smiled back at her.

"You're here early." Cristina pointed out, which was a surprise to Cristina because Cristina was normally always at the hospital early and never once Meredith had joined her.

"I know, I just really want to find some good cases since I've been on bed rest, I've missed out so I wanna get back in on a good start meaning a good case." Meredith explained.

"Well I don't blame you," Cristina replied, "I think I heard a nurse say that there was a bus crash so you might find some good cases from that."

"I hope there is, not saying I want anyone hurt," Meredith sighed, "you get what I mean."
