I stared at the beautiful human standing in front of me. His shaggy hair dampened in some parts and his wet suit tied around his waist, exposing his impressive abs. With his surfboard by his side, I realized that I was already in love with Hawaii and I had only been here for three days.
I was practically drooling over this boy and I only knew his name.
I was snapped out of my thoughts by another adorable giggle from the surfer boy. Ashton. He didn't look like an Ashton, he looked like a Kai. That sounded like a Hawaiian name.
I looked up at him after I realized he was laughing at my staring.
"Uh.. hi! I'm Leti. I just moved here..." I explained awkwardly.
"Nice to meet you! You've chosen a great place. It's beautiful here, god, I wouldn't trade it for the world." He gushed, peering out into the waves that were calming as the sun was getting lower in the sky.
"It is beautiful here. The view is amazing. Definitely something that I could get used to." I replied.
"Here let me show you around!" He said excitedly, his face bursting into a bright smile. He set his surfboard up by a bunch of other surfboards behind us and then grabbed my wrist and with that we were off.
~~
"So this is the BEST ice cream shop on the beach.. Out of any ice cream shop in Hawaii this one has the best flavours." He tells me, walking up to the little hut and resting his tanned arms on the counter.
We had been walking around the beach and the little shops for the past 2 hours. He wasn't even tired, but my feet were killing me. I'd gotten to know a few things about Ashton while he was showing me around, one of those being that he moved here from Austrailia when he was 3. Which was cool because I also moved from Australia.
"Hey Candice! We'll get 2 kiddie sized mango kiwi ice cream's please." He ordered for us.
"Sure thing Ashton! Who are you sweetie? Ashton has never brought a girl here before, you must be special." She asked me, I blushed. I figured a guy like him would have brought hundreds of girls to the beach with him before. He's gorgeous, how has he never brought a girl to his favourite ice cream shop.
"Oh I'm Leti, I just moved here. Ashton and I just met on the beach and he told me he was going to show me around." I smiled.
"Oh! You're from Australia aren't you! I can tell by the accent. What a big move! Your whole family moved here too? Wow!"She exclaimed, handing us our ice cream.
"Yeah! We moved into that house at the top of the hill over there." I said, pointing to the roof of our house, barely visible from the shop.
"Oh you moved there. That's a beautiful house. Well, I send my blessings to you and your family. See you later, you too Ashton!" Candice said happily.
I looked over at Ashton as we sat on the sand and stared out into the water. He loved it here, and I could tell. He was constantly smiling and staring at the landscape. Even though he had practically lived here his entire life, he still took the time to take in his surroundings and really appreciate the place around him. He seemed so thankful for everything he had, and I adored him for that. He was such a free spirit. He just connected with everyone and everything. It was like he was meant to be here.
"What are ya thinking about up there?" Ashton asked, tapping the side of my head. I chuckled but kept my gaze toward the water. I could feel his eyes burning into the side of my head. The sun was just setting and the sky was orange. The air smelled of saltwater and it felt so fresh. (so fresh and so clean, clean.)
"I think I like it here." I replied. I looked over and he quickly looked back to the ocean, trying to act like he wasn't staring at me for the last five minutes.
He was trying to hold in his giggle but he wasn't doing a very good job.
"Nice try mate. I saw that." I laughed with him.
"I'm sorry, you're just the most stunning girl I have ever seen," he began, and I felt my laughter turn to nervousness in a split second. He thought I was stunning?
"and I hope we can get to know each other more." He smiled.
And at that moment I swore I felt a real ass butterfly in my stomach. I wanted to screech. I was so in love with this place. The beaches, the shops, the people, the palm trees, everyone was in sync with everything, and I felt like I had found my place. The place where I was meant to be.
Where we were meant to be.
