The patter of rain on the window slowly pulled Loki out of his dreamless slumber. Eisa's lithe fingers were gently playing in his hair. Her delicious scent filled him as he took a deep breath, headier than usual, heat started to pool in his belly. He squeezed her tighter to him, moaning softly as he felt her warm, soft skin under his palm.

"Mmmmm...." He nuzzled her with his cheek, silky fabric gave way to buttery skin.

"Good afternoon, Sleepyhead." She pushed her fingers into his hair and dragged her nails lightly over his scalp, her other hand gliding over his bare shoulders and down his back.

Loki blinked his eyes open and moaned involuntarily when his vision came into focus. Eisa was sitting up in bed, he was lying on his stomach his arms wrapped firmly around her bottom half, his head in her lap, using her thigh as a pillow, his face now on the bare skin of her leg.

"Princess. How are you feeling?" He closed his eyes and nuzzled the soft skin of her inner thigh with his nose.

"I... oh Norns..." her fingers tightened in his hair, "I am good."

"Truly?" He placed a soft kiss on the tender skin.

"Uh..." she whimpered, "I am starting to feel a little warm."

He pressed one more long, lingering kiss to her thigh before he rolled over and sat up beside her, pulling her close to him. "I am sorry, Dove. Was I hurting you?" He kissed her forehead.

"Not at all."

"Have you been awake long?"

"A while."

"Why didn't you wake me?"

"I got up to use the bathroom and when I came back to bed, I sat up to watch the clouds come in over the mountains. Then you rolled over and cuddled my legs. I don't know which view I was enjoying more; the rain coming down outside or your perfect face as you slept on me for a change." She rubbed her thighs together, "Actually, the majestic view outside is a very distant second."

Loki's heart did that weird little flip in his chest as he cradled her face in his hands. His tender reflection was soon disturbed by the intrusive thought that he could have lost her last night. He could have arrived too late. He could have found her broken and bloody, her head bashed in or strangled to death. Ripped away from him too soon.

His gaze quickly shifted from loving reverence to pitiful guilt. He exhaled shakily, "I am so sorry, Dove."

"Loki, no. Don't." Eisa sat up straighter and pulled his face back to hers, "Stop blaming yourself for something that is not your fault. We are here, safe, sound, and together." She picked up his hand and kissed it. A sly smile playing on her lips, "I think we should be celebrating."

"Celebrating? Celebrating that our home was invaded? That you were the target of a kidnapping attempt? That you were attacked and almost-"

She put a finger over his lips, "Shhhh..."

His eyebrows shot up as Eisa slowly brought a leg over his and straddled his lap. She was gauging his reaction, "Dwelling on the bad things won't change what happened. We should celebrate that we woke up today, together." She wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her forehead on his.

Waiting.

Waiting for a reprimand or...

Loki pulled her closer to him by her hips. "You are right."

Eisa smirked and leaned over to his ear, "The wife is always right." She whispered, before giving the lobe a nip.

"I don't usually appreciate my judgement being questioned," he closed his eyes and nuzzled her hair as he slid under her nightgown and ran his large hands over her bare back, "but I will concede just this once."
