EPISODE 44: DESTRUCTION OF THE EARTH—SERIES FINALE
(Adapted from "The Final Game" and "The Earth Is Our Home")

We start with a black screen as the series logo slowly appears, followed by text at the bottom saying the title. And that is because this episode...is not an episode. It's a movie. There are no more 30-minute limits the author usually gives himself. If this were to be aired on TV, it would more than likely be over an hour. In other words, there are no limits as to what this finale can accomplish now, and don't expect the theme song to be in its usual spot.

After the logo, we fade in on our first location.

The Washi Residence.
Dolphin Coast, New Zealand.

It's nighttime and lights can be seen inside the house.

Martha: You're going to where!?

We cut inside to the house's office, with notes scattered across the table the laptop sits on and hung up on walls by tape.

The conversation between Martha and Randall continues with the former sounding excited.

Randall: The Congo. One of my contacts says they found a carving on the side of No-Man Mountain, depicting what looks like an animal-headed king or queen. The local guide says it matches no known story from nearby tribes, and it doesn't seem to correspond with any other African legends. This could be HUGE! We could be looking at evidence of an extinct species or an alien race that was here before us! All we have to do is wait for the weather to clear up, and I can head over with a crew to start searching for more!

His wife stares at him with annoyance/confusion.

Martha: ...How long would that be?

Randall: Uh, about a few weeks, give or take.

This makes Martha annoyed.

Martha: So...you'd miss the start of expansion week.

Randall: Hey, we don't know for sure yet. Maybe if we're lucky, things will happen earlier than I—

Martha: IF we're lucky!? I can't rely on that, Randall—t-this hologram tech experiment is a big deal I'll need your help with, a-and now you're telling me you might not be here!?

He responds, still trying to put a positive spin on this and not fully understanding her problem with his plan.

Randall: I know, it's not ideal, but—

Martha: NO BUTS.

She then stops and takes a deep breath.

Martha: ...You keep doing this. You've missed our anniversary TWICE, field trips, birthdays, a vacation, and now THIS? When I need you for my biggest challenge yet!?... (sighs) Randall, I'm sorry. But if I can't rely on you being here more often or saying no to unnecessary trips then...then...I want a divorce.

Randall is shocked by those words.

She starts to leave.

Randall: W-Wait, Martha, come on—Martha!

She keeps going, not looking back.

Randall looks down at the wedding ring on his finger and his facial expression grows angry/sad as those last words linger in his head.

2 Weeks Later.

Randall walks down a hallway of family pictures, one of which now has his face torn out of it. He tiredly approaches the front door with some suitcases being dragged behind him. Before he exits, however, he stops upon hearing his now ex-wife's voice.
