"Come on Jaysen, open up!" Keao knew he didn't have to wait on him to answer, but it did not please him to leave someone else's belongings out in the open for other students to mess with. Not everyone can be expected to act civil. Hearing someone shuffling inside, he tried the doorbell one more time.
"Can I help you?" Keao jumped out of astonishment. He wasn't expecting anyone to show up behind him. His peripherals were not so narrow to have not caught someone walking down the narrow hallway. Turning back he recognized the man before him. The man who also had a lot to explain for his absence.
"Chase? Man, can't be sneaking up on people like that. What if I had punched you out of reflex."
Chase lifted his brow, a sign of amusement. "A nice guy like you choosing violence would definitely be considered an omen of the end times." Gesturing towards the box in his hand, "Guessing F.C.P?"
"Jaysen's. Been trying to get him to come to the door."
"I'll bring it in for him. He's probably still hungover from the party last night."
"Is that what you were doing besides that date I'd set up for ya," Keao asked, placing the box at the door. He looked confused for a brief moment, but it wasn't long before a light of recognition played on his face followed by signs of regret.
"Nah... Got caught up with some stuff."
"And you couldn't text back?" Chase held up his phone. Completely cracked.
"Couldn't. Drop it on concrete. Should've bought that case like you suggested." Looking down at the floor, dejected, he asked, "She probably hates me right?"
"Severely disgusted. You gotta make this right man. Like today before afternoon classes start." Keao could probably talk Hannah into giving it one more go but... "How are you really feeling about this?"
"Other than like I blew my shot? Think idiotic covers it."
"I might be able to help you, but you gotta put in some work too. Here." Keao handed him the invitation he received earlier. "There's going to be a party at Sionnach's place. Walk your ass over to the office, apologize, and invite her."
"You sure a Sionnach event is a good first date? These things can get pretty wild." Chase was definitely feeling uncertain by the idea.
"You botched the restaurant date I set up. If you ask me then what other option do you have?"
"If you say so." As Chase grabbed the envelope a shock ran through Keao causing him to quickly retract his hand. A shock that his friend seemed to have not noticed.
"Interesting... I'll give it a shot," he says as he unlocks his room. "Thanks again."
"No problem." And with that Chase retreated.
