"I don't like liquor."

"Uh. Well, never mind. I drink for both of us. Order whatever you want."

Taehyung orders a soda and Jimin drinks the small basin full of soju. It would take them a while to bring what they ordered to eat. Taehyung plays with the napkin absentmindedly until he dares to speak:

"How did you manage to become a teacher? Jin-nim mentioned that you took some exams, but-"

"Ah, aaaah, that," Jimin licks his lips with slight stinging. The soju is a little stronger than he remembers it being. "I took the ten sufficiency exams required to prove that I can go into teaching. I also had to validate all my degrees. It was too cumbersome a process." he admits with annoyance about it. Taehyung furrows his eyebrows some more.

"But how did you do it? You're a Ragdoll."

"I didn't study here, my mother took me out of Korea so I could study more. In America I'm allowed to continue beyond elementary school." explains Jimin, Taehyung shakes his head. That makes sense. For some reason Korea is part of those who prevent dependent species from studying.

Even if it has nothing to do with it.

"Still, I didn't really like it over there, so I wanted to go back, I always planned" Jimin shrugs lightly. "I did all the paperwork and I'm a free cat Taran!" He opens and waves his hands, teasingly with his tail waving. Taehyung is momentarily distracted by it. "What about you, why are you a teacher if you hate people so much?" pouts and winks. "For someone so grumpy, you chose a career with too many people involved."

"I just like to have my space," Taehyung justifies. He thanks the waitress who brought the order as well as Jimin. "And since I've had too many disappointments."

"Couples?"

"People in general."

"Oh~ It's because you're a bear right?" Taehyung shakes his head. "Everyone thinks I want to sleep with them when I give them gifts. That's why I prefer to give them to many people. They don't feel directly involved" Jimin puts a piece of meat in his mouth. "What happened to you?"

"I'm unlucky. There's not much else way to put it."

He doesn't want to talk about himself too much with Jimin, even though that's clearly what the feline wants to get at. It distracts him as much as it wiggles its ears. I've never seen someone his age be so expressive with them. It's impossible not to identify what they mean:

Perked up, he's listening to you.

Drooped, he's sad.

Drooping, but tilted slightly back, he's embarrassed.

Fidgeting insistently, he's nervous.

Sticking to his head, he's scared, like now.

"Hey buddy Can I borrow him for a while? It smells great."

"No. Get lost."

"Come on, don't be so selfish."

"Don't touch it and get lost."

Taehyung gropes a bull beastman, noticeably Alpha and noticeably drunk who is trying to pull Jimin with him. He's in a larger group that just laughs at the stupid thing he's doing. One of them goes to get him and Jimin fixes some hair, his ears so floppy they blend in among the tousled, fluffy curls.

"Sorry. I didn't take my inhibitor today."

"Never mind. It's not your fault... What were you saying?" he asks sipping what's left of the Pepsi he ordered. He calls the waitress to bring another.
