Just a little piece centred around James's crash in the Grand Tour's A Scandi Flick.

Enjoy!

//\\//\\

She had a bad feeling about that damn tunnel run the boys had planned, and that feeling was right, unfortunately. One of them did get hurt. However, it wasn't who she had expected to get hurt....

Both she and Richard had found James's start down the tunnel rather, uncharacteristically fast for one Captain Slow. Then they heard the crash, then Jeremy's call over the walkie.

"Big one! Big one!"

And fucking hell, it was a big one. They didn't see what had happened, but Jeremy had relayed to them what had happened once they made their way down to the end of the tunnel. James May had collided with the wall, hard, and had hit his head against the b-pillar in the impact.

Thankfully though, James wasn't hurt too badly, just a couple bruised ribs, and a sore head. But it could've been much worse. Even more so considering James's age.

And quite honestly, considering her boy's (Richard) history with head injuries, Lizzy is very happy that the bump to the head, while it looked pretty nasty from what Jeremy had described, isn't nearly as bad as it very well could've been. Even though she didn't start working with her boys until months after Richard's big accident (in fact, she started working with them around when Richard first returned to Top Gear in 2007), so she never got to witness the omega hooked up to many machines, lying small and utterly helpless in a hospital bed due to the brain injury he sustained as a result of that crash, she's very much glad that it doesn't look like she'll have to witness one of her boys in that position.

Glad that Jeremy doesn't have to go through all that a second time albeit with James rather than Richard.

That Richard doesn't have to go through what both James and Jeremy had to go through seeing him like that many years ago.

"I'll stick with James since it's looking like he'll be in the Volvo." Lizzy says, glancing over at the wrecked Evo that she's doubtful they'll be able to get going again. "You two just go on ahead, and we'll meet up with you later."

There's no arguing regarding her going off with James while Jeremy and Richard continue on. They know that James is okay, and that Lizzy will be with him, so they stay behind in the tunnel as Lizzy climbs into the ambulance with James after handing over the keys to the Volvo to Wilman, before the ambulance is driving away.

"You're an idiot, May." Lizzy sighs, taking a hold of James's hand in hers, as the ambulance starts to drive off. "And I quite liked that Evo."

She can guarantee there's going to be a lot of viewers upset with James for crashing that Evo. Was a bloody fantastic car, much like the Impreza Richard is driving, and now James has gone and wrecked it. And it's rather likely that unless they can get it working again, James will be in the Volvo. Which means she'll have to go into one of the crew cars for the rest of the trip, or just ride with James in the Volvo, she's not sure what'll happen yet. The boys have barely had to use the backup cars on these adventures, so she's usually driving them for the entire duration of the trip... unless something happens to the backup car, much like it did when they were in Africa many years ago and the boys were tasked to find the source of the river Nile (she still finds it hilarious watching that car roll into the river while the crew were trying to get it onto the raft they'd made to get the star cars across).

"I do too, so hopefully we can get it running again." James says. "I don't want to drive the Volvo."

Of course he doesn't want to drive the Volvo, none of them do. Lizzy doesn't mind too much, although it's not the sort of car she would've chosen to drive if she got to choose. But she knows damn well that her boys don't want to drive it at all. Unfortunately, it looks fairly likely that James will have to drive it, and they've only just started this trip.

"Well, you wrecked it quite badly." Lizzy says. "You'll be lucky if you can get it running for the remainder of the trip."

In all honesty, it could very well be an easy fix, but since she's pretty useless with cars, she's not sure. From what she saw of the car, however, it looked rather fucked.

Although, James is exceptionally brainy, so if any of her boys can get the Evo working again, it'd be her beta. James would for sure be the one to get it running again. Richard would too, maybe not perfectly like James, but he'd get it up and running. Jeremy however, not so much. That old ape of a man is quite useless when it comes to fixing cars, usually (well, he's not that hopeless at it, but he's not great at it either).

"At least if I have to drive the Volvo I'll get an added bonus that the other two won't have." James says.

"Really now?" Lizzy asks, leaning forward a little so she's closer to James. "And what might that be?"

She knows fully well what he's referring to. That she'll potentially be riding in the Volvo with him if she doesn't have to jump into one of the crew cars. And riding in the Volvo with James sounds a lot better than riding with the crew. However, it would mean she'll be in more of the episode if that's the case. And usually she's not in any episodes with the boys, as she prefers to mostly stay behind the camera. People watch Top Gear and the Grand Tour for the boys, not her after all.

"That you'll be riding shotgun." He says.

Smiling, squeezes his hand gently, before leaning in close to kiss him. "I like the sound of that."

However.... Luckily, once James has been released from the hospital, diagnosed with a broken rib and thankfully no head injuries, James is able to get the Evo back up and running again, much to her surprise and the shock and delight of Jeremy and Richard as they finally catch up to the older alpha and omega, and Lizzy is left to continue driving the Volvo herself.
