As she held you by the waist, trying to keep you from falling back to the ground.

A warm, sticky substance spread through your suit and onto her hands. Blood.

"Hyacinth, you're wounded!"

"I.. I didn't notice"

The cold had numbed your senses, leaving you unable to detect the pain coming from the gunshot.

You look back at your tracks and notice the little pools of blood that formed on the snow.

The contrast of bright red on white snow gave a chilling sense of humanity. Even with your radiant powers, you aren't as indestructible as you think.

"We need to get you back to the HQ, try to keep your eyes open"

"Please, I can't lose you..."

Her words were washed away by the ringing in your eyes, your eyelids felt heavy and your vision starts to blur.

Signs of blood loss.

When did it happen? When had they shot you? It all felt so..so sudden.

At least she was here to keep you warm.

"Hey, Joy"

"Yeah?"

"Thanks for the duck plushie from last time"

"No problem, I hope you gave many hugs during your free time"

"I do"

A weak chuckle escaped your lips, the sound of it sent a small amount of relief through the engineer.

You see the vulture come into sight. The signature, VLT/R painted against its metal.

Home sweet home- or so you thought.

BANG! A bullet from behind had been shot toward you and KJ.

Luckily they missed, unluckily they were getting closer.

"Can you run?!"

"Yeah!"

"Great!"

She lets go of you and faces towards the mirror agent from behind. KJ came face to face with herself.

"Of course, they sent the smart one!Mein Gott, this will get interesting"

-KJ POV-

Of course, just as you thought you almost got them to safety, you were proven wrong.

Your incredibly smart self had decided to join the party.

"It seems I still look as tired as ever! The coffee not doing its job for you?"

"You're one to talk"

Another gunshot, but KJ avoided it in time to see the bullet hit some crate from behind. She looked back at Y/N who was safely near the entrance of the vulture.

"Good, they're safe"

"Get it together engineer, or is your little radiant distracting you?"

"Me Distracted? HAH! Never"

She aimed at the agent and shot at them.

"Hah! Missed me"

"I never miss"

She hit the nano bomb that she placed somewhere behind the agent. It had been there since she got here.

The nano bomb exploded and injured the target.

It gave you enough time to run up to the vulture and into their arms that had been waiting for you this whole time.

"Never do that ever again!"

"I'm alive, relax"

They smiled. Almost home.

BANG! KJ fell to the ground after being pushed, she looked up only to see Hyacinth standing there, bleeding.

-Y/N POV-

She's safe, back in your arms.

You hugged her once again, and this time you see a spark. A gun.

"Get down!"

You pushed her out of the way. The bullet is embedded into your skin near your stomach.

You held the wound and looked at your hand, crimson blood.

You fall, almost fainting.

-KJ POV-

"No!"

The vulture flew away from the site with both KJ and Y/N inside.

"Y/N! Stay with me!"

Kj held them in her arms, both of them on the ground.

That bullet should have been for her instead.

"Why, why did you push me!"

"C- cause if I.. Didn't"

-wheeze- Y/N said in between quick breaths.

"You'd g- get hurt.."

"Shhh, stay still"

KJ tried not to cry or panic. She grab a clean piece of cloth and applied pressure on the wound.

"Sage!"

"Sage here, what's your status?"

"We're on our way, but Hyacinth is bleeding!"

"Oh dear, how much blood have they lost?"

"I don't know! But it's a lot!"

"Are they breathing?"

"Barely!"

"Olay, don't panic-"

"HOW CAN I NOT?! THEY'RE DYING BECAUSE OF ME!"

"kJ, panicking will only make things worse. I'll be ready to meet you when the vulture lands. Keep her alive till then"

"Alright.."

"Joy.."

"Shh, I'm right here"

Taking one hand away from the wound, she held o to yours and squeezed it. Sobbing echoed in the aircraft.

-Fast forward-

The vulture finally landed at the base, the massive ramp went down. Sage and Viper greeted both of you with a medical bed.

KJ lifts you from the ground and puts you onto the bed, they strolled you away.

All four of you arrived at Sage's office but neither KJ nor Viper was allowed inside.

-30 minutes later-

-KJ POV-

After cleaning up, the engineer went to your room since Sage had moved you there so that you can get more comfortable.

She sat down beside your bed and stared at you with worry all over their face. The flashback of you getting shot replayed in their mind.

She held your hand and pressed her lips against your knuckles.

"Please, don't die on me"
