Ah the cool breeze of my AC blasting my face in the summer heat, and you can't forget a good bucket of ice cream, the TV was as loud as ever, to drown out the AC of course!
"Sigh the best time is time alone"
I say as I scoop a son of ice cream into my face, this was a luxury, I must savor it.
That was until the TV shut off… WHAT?!
"Ugh I hate this city"
I swing open the power box, and yes again the cables are glowing, another hosted kid… again…for the 6th time…
"Hey Brook, the powers been hollowed… once again."
Brook is my roommate, also the complex electrician. She's got brown hair and emerald green eyes, her face is muddy & covered in bandages because she's a builder, pretty sweet job if you ask her, nightmare if you had asked any of her colleagues.
"I got it Rain!"
I hear from across the hall, it echoed through the hall as she pulled up some IR and fiddled with the wires. And like magic, it worked immediately.
"Thanks girl!"
Like the flash I run up and close the door to the kitchen and turn my cheesy movie on. That happens every week at this point, they really should use hollow proof wires at this point, but I guess it's better then living back at mom & pop's… I real-
♪ring ring♪
"hello?"
"Excuse me, is there anyone by the name of… Betty Painting?"
"I'm yes that's me"
I spoke in confusion, I hadn't given anyone my phone number?
"I'm talking to you about the HDA"
Wait what?! Do they think my friends are hosted? DO THEY THINK I'M A HOSTED?! No… no they wouldn't… they wouldn't call, they'd just break in… besides I'm not a hosted anyways, it'll be fine. It will be fine…
"U-uhm yes, what about it?"
"We've noticed that you're application to the police station has been absolute stellar, including the recommendation from our CEO"
"Wait you saw my resume? And you must have gotten something wrong, I did apply for the police station but I never considered the HDA, besides I don't have any experience other then police academy. I don't even know anyone close to a CEO!!"
"May I remind you the average salary of an intern at your local police station, is a measly 5 dollars per hour. Can you remind me the salary of a starting position at our foundation?"
"50 bucks a hour"
