Bonus 12 [Sunoo]: Monster Among Men || 3/4
"Hey! You six!"
Sunoo nearly toppled over. He grabbed Ni-ki's hand and spun around, scanning the area furiously. They hadn't even made it off the police captain's front lawn. Had he changed his mind about letting them go?
"What was that?" Jake whispered, clinging to Kai's arm.
"Up there," Jungwon quietly announced.
Sunoo followed his gaze. A strange man wearing a T-shirt of Namjoon's face stood on the police captain's balcony, smiling down at them with his hands resting on the glass railing like he owned the place.
"Who are you?" Ni-ki questioned.
"I'm a friend searching for a friend," the man replied, his eerie smile unwavering.
"Hang on, I know him!" Daniel stared at the man, gaping. "He's that guy we saw on the hospital TV three days ago! Namjoon hyung's Busan vendor!"
"Oh, so you've heard of me." The vendor's smile twisted into a menacing grin. "You boys are from Belift, correct? So you're close to BTS?"
Ni-ki shrugged. "I mean, I guess you could say we're- Ow!"
He rubbed his shoulder, turning to glare at Daniel. "What was that for?!"
"Shut up, you idiot," Daniel hissed. "Don't tell him anything! He's a sasaeng!"
"A sasaeng?" The vendor laughed. "Me? Of course not. I'm just looking for Namjoon. We're friends."
"Yeah, right." Kai grabbed Daniel's arm protectively as the boys turned their backs to the man, walking away.
"I saw what you did!" The vendor shouted after them. "You snuck into the captain's house."
He began laughing maniacally. "I guess I should thank you for leading the way. Now I have these."
He held up a yellowed folder which Sunoo recognized as a file from the police station. He cursed. Had the man really followed them inside the captain's house? It would explain the strange noises and the open door they all swore they'd shut.
"All of the personal addresses of the BTS members and their families." The vendor touched the folder to his heart. "Namjoon will be so happy to see me again."
Sunoo and Jungwon glanced at each other in horror.
The vendor continued, casually leaning against the glass railing. "You know, breaking and entering is a pretty serious crime. One that could ruin an idol's career. I'll keep your secret... For a price."
"Idiot," Jungwon muttered under his breath. "You should never trust a glass railing like that."
"What?" Sunoo asked, highly confused about Jungwon's sudden concern for safety practices while they were being actively blackmailed.
Jungwon shook his head. "Nothing. Just something Jay hyung said."
~
Jungwon leaned against the glass railing. "I think it's because of the high tide."
Fear spiked through Jay, and he grabbed the younger boy's arm, pulling him away from the edge.
"Don't do that," he scolded. "The glass could break."
~
He leaned over the glass railing, trying to get a better view. "Damn. Security's dragging them away for making noise. I guess they're taking the Covid protocols very seriously."
