Sympathy and Mistakes

As I listen to my music I stop. I was out on a run and I just so happened to see Ryder training with the pups from the pack. Just like I have for the past week I debate on whether or not I want to apologize for slamming the door in his face and giving him the cold shoulder. Once again I shake off the thought and resume running. Whenever the idea came back into my head I ran faster eventually I was running twice the beat of the song. By the end of my 'light' jog I was probably going 20 times faster than a car. That is extremely fast for me being in my human form. Although I haven't shifted myself in years, I have seen others shift. That might just change soon though. My birthday just so happens to be tomorrow.If I find my mate I will have to run. Any disturbance in my way of life is unacceptable. I sigh, go inside to freshen up. While doing so I charge my phone and turn up the volume and a string of notifications sung out. My phone had been off and the girls were messaging me. I decided to text them and ask them what to do about the whole 'he is, he is not my mate' dilemma.

Me: So, girls. I have something that I need some consultation with...

Arllie: Go head'

Me: I think I found my mate but I'm not sure

Arllie: What

Alysia: That makes zero sense

Me: Remember Ryder. They guy my parents planned on having me be with. So there are a bunch of signs but I don't sense it.

Alysia: 'course you don't sense it. You are completely oblivious to most things.

Arillie: Ohh.

Arllie: Don't be mean Lyzzie

Alysia: I'm not

Me: Whatever, it's true that I don't tend to to notice things but this is pretty serious

Me: So he found his mate about a week ago. In the same forest I happened to be running through. At one point we did run into each other but he didn't recognise me as the heir to my pack. Just a stranger. On top of that he found Carter's and my bag.

Alysia: Dang... that sounds terrible

Arllie: Wow that is a lot

Me: and that isn't even the end of it. I didn't even remember his name until the day I got here. I don't even sense a bond with him.

Arllie: maybe he isn't your mate

Alysia: that's exactly what it is. You're an alpha you would be able to sense it.

Me: That is what I keep telling myself but then it doesn't add up.

Arllie: How?

Me: I have been covering my scent with a bunch of perfume and wearing glasses because of the forest incident but now im wondering if it is also blocking him from recognizing me. I mean he came to check on me because he was worried and I may have forgotten my shades.

Alysia: ok, then he saw you... so what

Me: So what? What do you mean! He asked me if i was his mate and I slammed the door in his face!

Arllie: Cecelia why would you do that you should have replied!

Alysia: lmao... good job!

Arllie: no not good job! Cecelia! That wasn't nice

Me: I did respond. I yelled at him and told him no.

Arllie: omg, i give up with you

Alysia: I am so proud of you.

Me: Yeah, but that isn't even the main issue. I want to apologize but I can't

Arllie: Why not?

Me: Because when I think about it I over think and I decide against it.

Alysia: Oh so now you think

Arllie: Alysia?

Alysia: Do you not know how much this conversation has affected either of us

Arllie: Lyzzie! Don't, it isn't worth it.

Me: Wait what is going on?

Alysia: I don't know. Maybe the fact that you are rambling about your mate problems without taking ours into consideration.

Me: whatt Im confused af rn

Me: Arllie?

Arllie: sorry but she is kinda right

Me: what?

Alysia: On our birthday you walked in with both of our mates scent on you.

Me: Wait! That means Ryder is one of your mates! I don't know where the other scent came from.

Alysia: No stupid. I know who my mate is. He said he would reject me and announce war on our pack if we didn't tell him who you are. My mate is Beta Lupus and Arlya's is Beta Walter. You bumped into both of them. And, if you use your brain you would figure out that they told us what happened. When Beta Lupus caught you, you were held to the ground by Dakota, Walters wolf. The White Shadow and Black Shadow Pack are both allied with each other. Beta Walter is the Beta of the Black Shadow Pack and Beta Lupus is of the White Shadow Pack. Ring any bells?

Me: Oh shit... I'm so sorry! I didn't even realize! I swear I didn't know!

Arllie: it s'okay

Alysia: No it's not! Ryder! Your 'mate' or whatever is the Alpha of the White Shadow Pack unless you forgot!

Me: Wait... wait. Ohh, I'm sorry. This is all my fault. If i had never hid away in the first place then both packs wouldn't be hunting me down. Im sorry but it isn't my fault they hate rogues. Also even though they are using the bond for information i can get that to stop. I just need to make up with Ryder somehow.

Alysia: No, what you need to do is stay out of our lives. Good bye.

Arllie: I'm sorry about her Cecelia. It isn't completely your fault. Also, just talk to him, apologize and explain your reasons. Finding your mate so early is the best thing that can possibly happen to a wolf. Good luck.

Me: thanks. And once again im sorry

Arllie: no problem... bye

Me: bye

I look out the window to see him still playing around with the little ones. Aw. So cute. Maybe I was too harsh. Ok, well he does deserve an apology. I grab my glasses, spray a little and head outside. As I approach I notice an absolutely gorgeous smile on his face as he lets the pups attack him. Sweet but so stupid. Pups get so feisty sometimes and they lose control of their attacks. He sees me and smiles brightly before waving me over.

"Hey!" he shouts towards me when he got barreled into. "Help!" I look at the kids and whisper that they made ice-cream and cookies in the packhouse. They pretty much ran at that. I walk to where Ryder laid at.

"Hey." I let out a breath nervously. I almost forgot to breathe. Taking Arlya's advice I sit next to him.

"Hey." he smiles timidly. Timid.. Not a word I would use to describe the old him. I think I'm already quite fond of this version. "What's up?"

I take a deep breath and say, "I wanted to talk to you." Ok so that is out. No going back.
