part three

The next morning, I met with my supervisor and Bakugo at the airport. She gave me a couple files to look over on the plane. Thank God she was there because I could barely stand the presence of Bakugo's wrath bearing down at me. He looked like he hadn't slept. What an idiot, and right before an uncomfortable flight. I wondered if I could come up with a way to delay the trip and let him have just a couple extra hours of rest, but before I could suggest the idea, we were dragged to the hangar and shoved onto the cargo plane.
I made myself a seat out of a couple crates and a loose tarp. He made the effort to distance himself over on the other end, plopping on the ground, leaning against a storage bin with his arms folded, glaring at me across the width of the plane.
"Did you forget your coffee or something?"
He huffed, but didn't reply, just kept glaring.
"You seem like you could use some rest."
"Shut up."
Quite frankly, he was acting like a toddler throwing a tantrum and I didn't have the patience to put up with his attitude while trying to hold myself together and look over the mission's notes.
I snapped. "What's up with you this morning?"
"You're a piece of shit. That's what."
He left me speechless. This was far from his playful insults. His spite left a burn across my face.
"Don't talk to me. Can't believe I'm stuck with your disgusting ass for a week."
After that, he looked away, maybe feeling like he'd gotten his point across. The space of the plane wasn't the only thing keeping us trapped together and now the cargo between us wasn't the only force dividing our partnership.
I tried reading through the documents our supervisor entrusted to me, but I couldn't focus. All I could think was what had I done to piss him off to this degree? I hadn't even taken his desk this time. Within the chaos of the night before, it came to me.
"This is about last night, isn't it?"
"Shut the hell up." The roughened tone of his voice only proved my suspicions.
"I'm sorry. I got tackled on my way home and my phone broke. I don't have your number saved, so I tried to email you, but you didn't reply."
"I don't want to hear your excuses!"
"But it's true!"
"Fuck off!"
"What did you have planned yesterday? You never told me."
