Talking with the Demon

I slowly opened my eyes, expecting to see the big room I was left in to die. But I wasn't there. I was in a bed? I looked around for a second, and I was in what looked like another safe room. That's right! Allison and Tom, I almost forgot! I sat up but paused. I remembered what I saw last, and what happened before. Alice, the experiment, the Ink Demon. Almost as if on cue, I thought I saw a speared tail behind me on the bed. I turned my head and I saw it again. Then I looked next to me, and there he was. I gasped and backed up a bit. He was just staring at me, well, the most he could, considering his face was covered in ink. He tilted his head.

"Uh.. did you.. save me?..."

He nodded. I relaxed a little.

"Do you mind if I ask why?"

He looked away for a minute, thinking. Then, he got up and went to the wall. He started writing something. Didn't really know he couldn't talk. I stood up to read. He stepped back a bit from the wall and looked at it. Alice. She's bad news. Shouldn't have made the experiment and left you to die. Now I tilted my head.

"Yeah, but.. why do you keep saving me from those things? Others keep saying you're bad news, too, but you keep protecting me."

I looked at him, and he did the same. He let out a low, short growl and wrote again. I don't know. Just want to. I laughed a bit.

"Okay, sure. You, a literal demon, just wants to protect me."

He growled again. Then, a sudden pain hit my arms, and I remembered what Alice did.

I fell to the ground in pain, holding my arms. The Ink Demon crouched down to my level and held out his hand.

"The hell- ugh- is this?.."

he gestured for my arm. I held it out, and he grabbed it. Suddenly, the pain started going away, and the ink was fading back towards my hands like before. That's when I remembered what happened to the Ink creature before. I immediately yanked my arm away.

"No! Last time, the thing died afterward!"

I looked at him, but he looked like normal. He tilted his head and sat up straight.

"God, you're super big.."

I stared up at him. He looked like he wanted to say something, so I gave him a notepad I had in my bag. He wrote, then handed it to me.

And you're super small, toots.

"Oh, come on!"

I huffed and looked away. Then I remembered Allison and Tom. "Awe, shit-"
