It was a beautiful day in Pallet Town. The Pidgeots were singing, flowers were blooming, and on days like these you could find a particular trainer in the fields.

"Use air cutter!"

The trainer's Pidgeot flapped its wings, forming tens of sky-blue cuts that flew through the air, cutting the training frisbee to pieces.

"Great job! Now fly over and use gust to blow them back here!"

The Pidgeot reared up and flew. It got right before the pieces fell and blew a gust of wind, blowing them back to her waiting trainer.

"Great job! That's enough for one day. Take a rest."

Upon hearing it Pidgeot collapsed on the ground in a tired heap of feathers. The trainer sweatdropped. Professor Oak always said he was always able to push Pokemon to their limits, and he was probably right.

In case you couldn't identify it by now, this is Ash Ketchum, Pokemon trainer at 16 years old, who has traveled through 3 regions so far.

Ever since he was small, he loved Pokemon. He spent every moment he could exploring the nearby forests just looking at them. Unfortunately, he and his mother were relatively poor. His mother worked hard to support them both, and his father… well he never knew him. His mom told him he left when he was small, but he didn't care. To him, his mother was enough.

He tried to look for ways to support his mom, but there aren't exactly any job opportunities when you aren't even old enough to ride a rollercoaster.

But then, one day, he was walking back after playing with some of the Pokemon in the woods. The rain started picking up, and he decided to go home. He took a forest route since it would be the fastest way back.

Since that day Ash has been going around, feeding the Pokemon, breaking up fights, and going to places to collect data.

Anyways, where were we? Oh yeah, Ash was called by Professor Oak to the lab.
"Ash!"

"Yes, professor?"

"I have something to show you!"

Ash ran into the lab, passing many of his tired Pokemon. He had taken some of his old Pokemon training while letting his Hoenn Pokemon rest.

"Hey, professor. What is it you wanted to show me?"

"This!" Professor Oak replied excitedly, shoving a letter into his assistant's hands.

Ash opened the letter and read it out aloud.

"Ah-hem,

Dear Professor Oak

It is with great pleasure to inform you that you have been invited as a professor for the Taisho-Voynich Institute in Veilstone City. You have been given this opportunity in recognition of your personal and academic achievements.

Enclosed in the package is a starter pack to familiarize yourself with the campus, the opportunities, and facilities. Feel free to reach out to us at any time, we would like to make the transition as smooth as possible.

We look forward to seeing you at our school in our upcoming academic year.

Woah professor, this is awesome!"
Ash thought for a minute.

"What's the Taisho-Voynich Institute?"
Professor Oak sweatdropped.

"It's a top high school in the country, specifically top 10, and one getting close to achieving international status."

"Sp there are students not just from Sinnoh but Kanto and Johto as well?"

"More than that! Beyond that! And according to Professor Rowan the trainers there are quite strong. You told me you don't have anyone your level to train against."

"Yeah, I can only train with my own Pokemon. There aren't really any other trainers here. And even less that are my level,"

"But here, there are a lot of trainers, and from what I hear, they could be your level, or possibly higher."

"That is cool…" Ash admitted. "But I've never been to a school before! Other than that one time in that Kanto school. But frankly, that one sucked."

"K can't exactly deny that..." Prof. Oak admitted. "But come on my boy! You've already been to at least 3 leagues. Surely you can go to a school?"

"Alright. I'll go think about it,"
Ash exited the lab and walked to his mom's house. She always knew what to do. He knocked on the front door.

"Hey, mom?"

"Welcome back Ash! How was your day?"

"It was pretty good, helped find some missing Tauros, but other than that nothing special,"

"That's wonderful honey,"
Ash sat down and took some tea.

"Hey, mom? Can I ask you something?"

"Sure honey. What is it?"

"Well… Professor Oak just got an invitation to an academy in Sinnoh, and so did I. Like sure it's nice but I've got a home here. And Sinnoh is quite far from here. Should I go?"

"Ash. I'm your mother. Whatever you do, I'll support it. But one day, I won't be here to support you. You'll need to support yourself, and I think education is going to look better on a resume than 3 regions traveled. And if Professor Oak himself recommends it, then it must be good,"

"Alright, I've made my decision,"
He went outside and went to the Pokemon lab.

"Professor! Let's go to a new region!"

Sorry if the first chapter here is kinda slow, I don't have a lot of ideas on how to make it interesting. However, I DO have a lot of ideas on the later chapters.
