Part 8: Slip Up

"Thanks for your help, both of you," Itachi says quietly as they land in the backyard of the hideout. "Don't mention it, uh," Deidara says, smiling softly. "You owe me, Uchiha, remember that," Hidan says, pointing at him. Itachi chuckles and nods as he heads inside. Hidan and Deidara walk to the door closest to their side of the hideout, their cloaks blowing in the cool breeze.

"Hidan" Deidara says gently. Hidan looks at him, the blonde nods his head up in response, Hidan follows his gaze up the wall to see Kakazu smoking a cigarette on the roof. Hidan swallows slowly and returns his gaze to the door. "What do I care?" He scoffs, opening the door and walking in. Deidara follows, feeling uneasy at the awkward exchange. "See ya freak," Hidan says, waving him off as he walks to his room.

Deidara sighs as he finally enters his room and throws himself on the bed. "There you are!" Deidara jumps up, throwing a kunai at the direction of the voice. He scrambles to turn the light on when he sees Tobi pulling the kunai out of his cloak, unsticking himself from the wall. "Tobi! What the hell, man!" Deidara says, laying back on his bed, "You scared the hell out of me." Tobi laughs as he nears the bed. "Sorry, Dei-chan! I've been bored all night. Where ya been?" He asks. Deidara sits up, letting Tobi sit beside him on the bed. "Oh. Nothing just went to get something from another village," he shrugs. "Oh. I see. Well, I brought you these. I didn't have anyone to share them with, " he says, handing Deidara a small box of strawberries.

Deidara licks his lips, remembering for a second how hungry he is. "Oh wow. Thanks, Tobi, I'm starving." He picks one up and bites into it, his eyes closing at its sweet taste. "Wow. They're so sweet. Want one?" He turns to Tobi, who's already looking at him. "Uh.... sure, " Tobi says, taking one. Deidara looks at him with some surprise. "Tobi... what voice is that?" The masked ninja turns away from him, upset with himself for forgetting. "What do you mean? Tobi only has one voice" he says in his child like voice. "Tobi" Deidara says, putting his hand on his shoulder, making Tobi turn to him. "I've heard it before... you can tell me." Deidara can see his one brown eye searching deep into his own blue ones. "I...." Tobi starts. He wants to tell him. He feels he can. Tobi reaches up slowly, his gloved hand resting on Deidara's cheek. The blonde feels his pulse rise. Tobi drags his thumb achingly slow up his chin and to his lip, wiping the line of strawberry juice away from the soft skin underneath his finger. Their eyes start locked as Deidaras heart flutters in his chest, the soft sensation of the gloves igniting his nerves. "Got it.." Tobi says in his deep voice, removing his hand as he turns away. 

Deidara waits to catch his breath. "Tobi... please tell me..." he starts, but a yawn catches him off guard. Tobi smiles under his mask and stands up. "Time for bed, Dei-chan," he says, his child like voice returning. "Wait. We're not finished," Deidara says as Tobi pushes him back against the pillow. "Tobi. Wait," he fights, trying to sit up. Tobi giggles as he covers him with the blanket, his strength surprising the blonde. "Tobi! Please!" Deidara calls out. Tobi shakes his head as he turns out the light, the clay users pleading doing something to his heightened nerves. Deidara feels his presence leaving, upset he didn't get his answer but succumbing to the exhaustion starting to take over.

He sighs deeply when suddenly he feels lips at his ear. "I like the way you beg Deidara." The smooth, deep voice sends vibrations down his spine as he turns his head to the voice he knows is Tobis true one. Before he can reply, he hears the sliding of the window up and then down. He swallows slowly, trying to settle his heart rate as he lays alone in the dark, suddenly now wishing he wasn't.
