"The fuck?!"

You groaned out as you were quite literally thrown out of your comfortable sleep.

"They'll leave your ass behind," Thorfinn scoffed staring down at you, a little amused at how distraught you were from waking.

"Throwing me was excessive," you glared, your anger quickly seeping into a yawn and you became drowsy again, "Hey!"

Your feet shuffled, struggling to stand on your feet while Thorfinn held you up by a fist full of your coat, "I'll drag you if I have to."

"So aggressive, just for future intent, this is not how you treat women," you frowned, grabbing your axe from the log and securing it in its harness.

"Future intent?" Thorfinn mumbled, unintentionally out loud as he watched you walk away, turning swiftly around when you noticed he wasn't following.

"Yeah, I mean you plan to fall in love at some point, don't you? The least you can do is take some of my advice," you shrugged, not thinking much of your words once you grabbed onto his wrist and pulled him forward, "Let's go hot head."

Not saying another word, Thorfinn willing let you drag him to his fellow marching Vikings who were a good 50 yards ahead of you two.

Plan to fall in love?

Thorfinn thought, in a daze as his thoughts swirled around.

He hadn't much thought about the future. His only intent was to kill Askeladd, but what after?

Go home? See his family?

What would they even say to him after all these years?

But to fall in love? Who plans on falling in love? These days it's just about getting a wife who can do housework, take care of the children, and make decent food.

But then he remembered the way his father and mother were. How they looked at each other, the way they smiled and embraced one another. They were in love. Not for the sake of the marriage, or the sake of survival, but because they dearly loved one another.

But Thorfinn was nothing like his father, he never would be.

His father was strong and beloved by the whole village. He was trustworthy, smart, tall, and attractive. Thorfinn thought they had nothing alike.

A deep frown formed on Thorfinn's lips when he compared himself to his father, a deep sadness forming within himself as he once again came to grief upon the subject.

And if you didn't happen to be right next to him, Thorfinn might have started crying.

"Is something wrong," you voiced, snapping him out of his trance. You both came briefly to a stop as you looked at him in worry, "Am I gripping your wrist too tight?"

Quickly, you let go of him, his hand falling next to his side while he could on look up at you in confusion.

"You look like you're about to break down any second."

And then he saw it, the pity that pooled in your deep e/c eyes.

A fit of rage consumed him, his frown turning into a snarl, "Fuck you."

And with the quick out lash at you, Thorfinn stormed off at a quick pace, fists clenching so hard they turned pale from the lack of blood flow.

"What?" you whispered, confused at what had just happened, "Fucking hot head."

And at that moment, Thorfinn decided that he hated you, based only upon the simple fact that you made him think too much.

"Excuse me? What the hell do you mean I'm not allowed on the carriage? I'm the Princes' guard!" I fought with one of the Vikings who was clearly struggling with me and equally as annoyed.

"I am aware, but I've been instructed to keep you out."

My eyebrows furrowed as I pushed the larger Viking off of me, a growl escaping his lips as he turned around to catch up with the carriage he was so-called instructed to keep me off of.

"Hello?!" I tried gaining some type of attention from one of the two that I was trying to join, my cry was heard once I noticed a familiar face pop over the edge, "The hell Ragnar? Did I get fired or something?"

The older man looked at me pitifully with a bit of guilt, making me all the more confused, "It's best if you just give the Prince some time Y/n..."

"Time from what?" I raised as his eyes flowed off to the side, signaling that he knew something I didn't, "Ragnar..."

My threatening glance startled the older man, giving him a quick jumpscare to which he let out a deep sigh, running a hand over his tired features, "Y/n, just be careful, alright?"

Rolling my eyes I stood off to the side of the group, contemplating what the fuck I did to get myself into this mess.

"You coming or not?" A familiar gruff voice entered. Quickly glancing at the person I noticed that it was Askeladd's right hand. In my mind, besides being a heartless Viking who'd probably killed more innocents than I could count, he was a good man. And with that, a smirk fell onto my lips, "What's with the look?"

"My good man, have you heard of a piggyback ride?"
