**** BOSS ****

The week dragged by painfully slowly for Boss.

He felt like a kid who had written a love letter to his crush and the crush showed no sign of responding.

That day, when he looked out into the crowd and saw Noeul standing there, hope that he kept firmly banked deep inside him had sparked anew.

Even though they had already met at the Welcome Party, seeing him standing there in the crowd just like in the past had spun Boss' world off its axis.

He had gone to the party emotionally prepared to see and speak to the Noeul that was the man today.

The Noeul that had moved on with his life and lived in a different world than the one they had shared a few years ago.

He had steeled himself to not have any expectations of that Noeul.

But it had felt so right to have him at the show, watching him perform, supporting him, as he had done numerous times. It was as if no time had passed.

Why had he come?

Was it simply to support an old friend?

Or did he miss their closeness as much as Boss did?

He had tried to find a clue in his eyes, but he couldn't make out anything through the dimness and distance.

Boss' heart was racing.

He had never been all that brave when it came to putting his emotions out there, rarely the one to make a bold first move.

But feeling the familiar warmth of his old guitar against his body and remembering the lyrics that had spilled out from his heart onto paper a few days ago, he gained courage.

He wasn't sure whether singing these words to Noeul for the first time in public was the smartest or fairest thing to do, but the need to say them to him when had the chance had overridden his ingrained caution.

It had always been easier for him to communicate through music.

Noeul knew that well.

Hopefully, he understood why Boss gave in to the impulse.

Boss' heart now ached.

This was his regret to bear.

If I could turn back time,

I'll go wherever you will go

If I could make you mine

I'll go wherever you will go

He should have never let Noeul go away on his own.

At that time, he had truly thought that this was the kindest and most supportive thing to do.

He was distracted, fighting every day to keep his energy up and to be seen and heard in the dog-eat-dog world of music.

Noeul's business was taking off and opportunities were coming his way that had to be seized.
