As always, Shantel wakes up every morning to live her life as her mother has said to her many times in the past. "I hate getting up, I wish I could sleep forever," Shantel thought as she kicked off her sheets and blankets, then jumped off out of bed. Her family just moved here so everyone was getting used to the new apartment they lived in. It wasn't old but wasn't new either, so kind of new-ish, she always thought. Shantel's room was full of old storage boxes that smelt so bad that it smelled like a dead rat died in them. "Today is a new day, I guess as always," she shrugged as she limped out of her room trying to get out from the crowded boxes. Just as she pushed her way out of her room, all the crowded and piled boxes fell on top of her as she tried to get away. "AHHH!" she yells. Bang! Clang! Crash!
"WHAT'S GOING ON OVER THERE!" a voice calls from the other side of the apartment.
"It's alright, I'm fine, just an accident but I'll clean it up," shouted Shantel as she began to organize the piles and cleaned them up so they weren't in the way. After that incident, she made her way into the small, cramped kitchen and grabbed herself some fruit juice, poured it into a tall glass and drank it in one gulp. As she began to wash her glass, a tall woman walked into the kitchen with a surprised look on her face. "What are you doing here Shantel, you're meant to be at school, you're going to be late on the first day," she scolded at her as she pointed her red finger-nailed index finger at her. "I had school today, I thought I was starting next week, why don't you tell me this kind of stuff sooner mum," said Shantel angrily as she limped but ran to her room to be ready for the first day of high school.
Shantel had an accident that involved with her right foot last year, now ever since then Shantel hasn't been able to walk or run properly because of that accident Shantel and her family had to move suburbs. "Hurry up Shantel, we should of been leaving ages ago, you're going to be late!" called her mother from the car. Shantel ran as fast as she could even though she was kind of having difficulty with her limp foot she tried her hardest anyway going down heaps of stairs. Her short, dark chocolate brown hair was clipped back with some pins and clips with also a headband on. She wore the official formal uniform with a skirt that came past her knees, socks that felt like sockings because they were so high and her shirt had a red ribbon that went around her collar. She jumped in the car with her small sized backpack over her shoulder where her mother was waiting to drive off. "Hopefully this year would work better than last year, I want to have at least a friend to care for me for a change," Shantel thought this as they started driving off to the high school.
