s e v e n - friends...?
Jungwon watches the girl, astonished by the speed of her speaking.
In all honesty, he lost track of what she was saying two minutes ago.
The words she spews out are lost on him as he racks his brain for a single word shes saying.
He holds her by the shoulders just before she stops, startled at the sudden contact, and looks into his eyes.
"Stop," he interrupts her, "take a deep breath," he calmly directs her.
She follows his instructions, skeptically, but she follows nonetheless.
Eyebrows scrunched, and her eyes untrusting, she proceeds, "Now what?"
"Oh, I don't know. You were just talking way too fast," he joked, taking his palms off her shoulders.
She groans and slams her head into her hands before ruffling her mid-neck length hair in frustration.
After a moment of silence Jungwon starts again, "You could...start from the beginning? Maybe just a little slower this time," he timidly uttered to the Chae-ri, who's head is now resting in the table.
She lifts her head slightly to peek at the boy in front of her, then releases a long, exaggerated, sigh.
"I don't know..I mean it's my first day at school here and I already screwed up."
Jungwon slightly raises his eyebrows at her confession, "What do you mean..?"
"You saw what happened out there!" she exclaims a little louder than intended, "I fell, your apparent "bestie" hates my guts for some reason, not to mention I embarrassed myself in front of him as well, and I blew up on you without warning!"
"We're not even friends!" she points out disappointment in herself seeping through her words.
"Well, we could be friends," Jungwon says in a suggestive tone.
Chaeri perks her head up slightly, "Wait, really?" eagerness clear in her voice.
Jungwon chuckles slightly, "Yea, why's that so shocking?"
"No! It's just that you're my first friend here," she smiles in pure excitement.
"I'm honored," Jungwon cups his hands together theatrically, repeating a thanking motion.
Chaeri just laughs at the boy's teases and the two enthusiastically talk the rest of lunch, making Chaeri forget all that went wrong in the past couple of hours.
