A portal opened and two new beings of unknown origin stepped through. One wearing green and the other wore rags fashioned into a most revealing outfit. A small group of animals scattered in fear as the two emerged. When the portal vanished behind them, so too did most of the light that had just illuminated their entry.
"You do realize that there isn't much you can do from here on right?"
Nabooru shook her head and attempted to explain herself as she had done the whole way through the portal.
"How do you expect to get back once you get you sword reunited with its other half? You will need help. Admit it. Just because you were chosen by the Goddesses, that doesn't mean you need to be alone, besides, what about that annoying little fairy that you normally have following you."
He had completely forgotten. Flipping through his tunic and pockets, he eventually happened upon a sleeping Navi. She had been asleep through that whole battle. Not sure how she could have, Link tried to rouse her from her nap. The tiny fairy awoke to just a little nudge. She slowly opened her eyes and spread her wings as she sat up.
"Where are we?"
She yawned and looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings. She flew around only to realize that everywhere was nearly pitch-black. Link drew power to his sword and pointed it just ahead of him. It was lucky that they hadn't walked in any direction as there was only one small path against a wall and a long drop if one were to slip. They could see only a few feet in front of them as Nabooru and Link walked single file down the path. With each step, they both would look down and in back of them, though, there was no real point as it was too dark to see but it did put them somewhat at ease.
The three traveled along the wall for what seemed hours. It felt as if they were heading down but with limited visibility, it was too hard to tell. When they finally made it to an open area, they looked in the distance to see a small spec of light. They had nowhere else to go so they headed off in that direction. Seeing as how that was the only light, although small, it was their only option.
With minimal lighting, all they could tell from the land that there were random holes that just dropped who knows how far. From the ground, all three could tell it was a desolate landscape. The only creatures, if any, were rats that just scurried away as soon as the light touched them. They had no clue as to where or in what direction they were walking. All they knew was that they were heading towards a bright light in the distant.
"I don't think we are really getting any closer."
Nabooru noticed that as they were walking, the distance between them and the light did not change. It stayed the exact same and looked as if it was moving with them. Link, however, was unaware. He was too busy concentrating on his sword. He knew that if they lost light, then they would be in trouble. This new world already didn't make any sense to them. Complete darkness and lands that could not produce any vegetation? They both questioned how anything could live here.
"We may not be getting closer to the light but we are still getting somewhere."
Link could barely see it but he saw shapes forming in the distance. They looked like buildings but he couldn't tell how big or how many there were. He just knew they would get there eventually. Though Navi was a fairy, the light that illuminated from her wasn't close to enough. This made her feel a little useless. She was made for the sole purpose of helping Link and she couldn't do a simple task as to light his way. The others were too busy concentrating on their new surroundings to notice that she had fallen a little behind. She had to look up quickly as she heard a faint yet familiar voice. She decided that if she weren't of any use there, she would help in another way. She flew off towards the voice without saying a word or either Nabooru or Link noticing.
