Fluff
Robin burst out from the gym, tears threatening to fall from her eyes, and made a beeline for the bathroom. As cliché as it was, the bathroom had become a place of comfort for when she needed to get away from everyone and everything and just collect herself.
It had been about an hour or so, at least that's what it felt like, since she had arrived at the school. There was really no reason for her to go, other than her boredom. The music, cheers, and loud noises had overwhelmed the poor girl, so much so that she needed to leave. As she slammed open the bathroom door, an unexpected yelp greeted her. "Hello?" the voice called. Robin recognized the voice as Nancy.
She made her way over to where Nancy was and sat down next to her against the wall. The girl looked like she was on the edge of a nervous breakdown, and she probably was. Robin held out her hand, offering it as comfort. Nancy took it and gently squeezed, and leaned against her friend. She let out a sigh, closed her eyes, and took a few deep breaths. Robin glanced down and gently nudged Nancy, prompting her to say something. "Sorry about this," Nancy whispered. Robin almost laughed at this, but instead she said, "Hey, I'm in here on my own free will. You don't have to be sorry for anything."
Nancy looked up at Robin, tears filling the pools of her eyes. She smiled gently and started rubbing Robin's knuckles as she began to speak. "I know you probably don't want to hear my sob story, but I really need to get it out of my system," she started. Robin nodded gently, hoping that her silent message of There's no need to worry, go ahead got across. "I came here thinking that I would be able to handle it, but I just couldn't. I couldn't even step into the gym." Nancy paused to wipe a stray tear off of her face. Robin gently squeezed Nancy's hand reassuringly, the latter squeezing back.
Nancy opened her mouth to continue, but words failed her. She slowly shook her head, leaning against Robin even further. Robin wrapped her free arm around Nancy in a side hug. They sat like that for a while until Robin couldn't take the silence anymore. "Do you remember that one time when Jordan ran so fast that he slipped on the dry floors?" It was random, but it still made Nancy laugh. Her laugh got Robin to smile, and it made her face warm up ever so slightly.
"Yeah, that was something. I wonder how he even did that," Nancy said after a few moments.
The uncomfortable silence had unfortunately returned, so Robin said the only thing on her mind.
"Hey, what if we ditched this place?"
Nancy looked up at Robin, something she couldn't read in the shorter girl's eyes. This obviously made Robin panic, so she began rambling. "Sorry, it's just, you're clearly anxious, and I'm anxious, so I thought we could... I don't know... Ditch the whole prom thing? I know a place we could go. Not that you have to go, of course. I'm just offering. Jesus, I'm sorry. Forget I said anything." Taking a breath, Robin looked down, suddenly very interested in her shoes.
She heard a small laugh from beside her. "Of course we can leave. I wasn't having a good time in there, but in here I am. On the floor of a probably incredibly dirty bathroom, I'm having fun. That's because of you, Robin." Nancy gently poked her elbow into Robin's side before standing up. She held out her hand, which Robin took without a moment's hesitation. "You lead the way," Nancy said as she pulled Robin up. The latter saluted before she walked over to the door, holding it open.
"Ladies first," Robin said with a chuckle. Nancy mocked a curtsy as she passed. She turned to hold the door for Robin, gesturing with her arm for her to leave the bathroom. "Ladies first," Nancy repeated. The two walked hand-in-hand while giggling through the hallway. When they got to the front entrance of the school, Robin pushed open the door to lead them out.
Before Robin could lead them any further, Nancy turned and looked at the parking lot. "Should we take my car?" she asked. Robin laughed and shook her head. "No, it's not that far from here, I promise," she replied. With that, the two girls made their way up to a secluded clearing on a nearby hill. Trees circled around the crest, providing some shade near the edge of the clearing. There was a small brook somewhere near, just faint enough to barely be heard.
"Woah," Nancy whispered. "I had no idea this was here."
Robin sat down and patted the area next to her. Nancy sat down and slowly exhaled, trying to calm her pounding heart. "You really need to get out more, Wheeler. This is my favorite spot," she said as she looked up at the night sky. "Not only is it ridiculously beautiful, but it's perfect for stargazing."
Nancy glanced up after Robin spoke, noticing that the light pollution didn't have much effect here. She could see lots of constellations with just her eyes. She turned to look at Robin, who was moving her arm around, clearly drawing constellations in her mind. Nancy couldn't help but smile at this before she moved to lie on her back. Still not taking her gaze off of Robin, Nancy whispered, "It really is beautiful."
Robin turned to her, an ear-to-ear smile on her face. "I should take you here more often and teach you some of the constellations. I know a majority of them by heart." She couldn't help but boast her knowledge to Nancy. There was just something about her that Robin felt the need to impress.

It wasn't long before the two of them were leaning into the other, the taller of the two pointing out different constellations while the other watched in pure adoration.
