On the land of a farm, Victor had been surrounded by five large barns. He had chosen that place due to its location being outside the city and due to knowing it well despite twenty years having passed since his last visit. It had been the home of his childhood best friend. Victor had always felt safe there. Stephanie hadn't asked Victor about their new location. She had been happy enough being out of danger.

Victor had no longer known what to do. The army had seemed to know his plan. If that dimension had already been aware that the bacteria had been created and intentionally spread, it would risk not negatively influencing the reputation of his double. Victor had asked Stephanie what she thought about their situation and if she believed that the army truly had that information. Their conversation hadn't lasted long. When Stephanie had been more than three meters from Victor, the soldiers had taken advantage of the moment. Six soldiers had come out of hiding from behind the closest structure, and another four, from another. Stephanie had been shot in the neck with a needle. She had fallen to the ground. The soldiers had hurried to prevent Victor from getting to her. They had shot Victor's legs with soft balls. The balls had harmed him enough that he had fallen while trying to reach Stephanie.

Stephanie and Victor were in a small cell. There was only enough space to move around by about six steps. The room had two doors. One led to the rest of the building into which they had been brought and the other led to a bathroom. The cell had been made especially for people with special capabilities. The walls on the inside absorbed any atypical force or energy that it encountered. In Victor's case, the walls would prevent him from putting himself back together outside the cell. In Stephanie's case, the walls couldn't do anything so she had been drugged to be kept unconscious. Victor had been warned by the general of the consequences of any attempt to teleport. The general wanted to punish them but didn't want to kill them. Not yet, anyway. Victor was still tempted to teleport but his instincts told him that there was something odd about the walls' material that made him believe the general's warning.

The building in which Stephanie and Victor were held captive was dedicated to anyone with supernatural abilities. The government in that dimension had created a program centuries ago where those deemed homo neanther were captured, drugged and forced to work for the government. Eventually, it was found that a minority of those deemed homo sapien also had those types of capabilities. They were kidnapped as well. The government kept those people their entire lives. The people were encouraged to socialize with each other and reproduce. The government's plan was to have them bear children who could be manipulated without the use of drugs. After a few generations of children born in the facility, that's exactly what happened. The facility was created to give them a place to live and to train. The people were used for all sorts of things. People with capabilities similar to Peter's were used to make advancements in the medical field while those with abilities like Sasha's would become assassins. Each one of them had the same ideas ingrained into their heads: protect the government, obey the government, and destroy any threat to the government no matter the consequences.

Andy, Giovanni, Rodolf, Sasha and Veronica stepped into an empty field. There were remains of recently cut down trees and smaller plants around them. Nearby, they saw part of a long-looking fence with a construction sign.
Sasha said, "Either we're in the wrong world or our city hasn't been built yet."
"Where do we go now?" asked Giovanni.
Their plan wasn't fully thought out. They didn't know how they were going to find the two people in captivity, how they were going to free them, nor how they were going to get back to their dimension. For all they knew, it would take Giovanni and Rodolf another week to make a portal.
Veronica answered, "I saw a seemingly abandoned city between here and the northern end of the nation in my vision."
"Where's that exactly?" asked Andy.
Veronica explained, "I'm not sure. I assumed that it would be best to get that information here since dimensions are different from one another."
They walked to the chain-link fence. When they reached it, they couldn't find an opening so they climbed over it. Sasha was the fastest to climb the two and a half -meter high fence. Rodolf took his time and kept his eyes half-closed to prevent himself from looking down.
"Would you hurry up?" said Giovanni, who hadn't started climbing yet.
Rodolf uttered, "I'm trying not to die."
While climbing down the other side, Andy added, "C'mon, bud. Or I'll do it for you."
"Ya, why didn't we ask you to bring us all over?" pointed out Sasha.
"No!" half-shouted Giovanni and Rodolf almost simultaneously.
Sasha commented, "I did enjoy it. It reminded me of when I was in secondary school."
As he reached the ground, Andy agreed. "This was for sure the more fun thing to do."
