Taehyung woke from a nap, alcohol bottles littering the floor around the bed. He didn't like to drink. It numbed the pain though.
His hair was almost to his shoulders, the ends curling in little ringlets around his eyes. He still went to work and saw Yugyeom there everyday. He hated him so much, but didn't show it because he was trying to be professional.
He turned on his side and cuddled a pillow, imagining it as Jungkook. He wasn't obsessed or anything, he just missed the boy an awful, awful lot.
The blare of his ringtone rang, pulling him away from the pillow. He grabbed his phone and answered, now sitting up and leaning against the headboard.
"Tae, could you watch Aecha for a couple hours?" Namjoon's voice rung out, laced with desperation. Aecha was their daughter. She was eight years old and the couple's only child.
"...sure. Bring her over." He mumbled as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. "Hell no! Your house is filled with alcohol bottles!" Jin shouted, Taehyung rolling his eyes.
"Fine. I'll come over. When?" He asked. "Now." Namjoon said flatly before hanging up, Taehyung hearing a crash over the call before he did.
Taehyung groaned and rolled out of the bed, heading for his closet to get dressed. He wore simple clothes before going downstairs where the tv in the living room was playing the news per usual.
"Idol star Jeon Jungkook was spotted yesterday at the park with his two children Minsu and Jihu. He was sporting a new look of blonde hair. We-"
Taehyung clicked it off, not wanting to hear it anymore. He hated how they had a family. He was the one who wanted two little boys with Jungkook, and now he did, but Taehyung wasn't in the picture.
Yeontan suddenly yipped and ran up to his owner, licking his fingers. Taehyung smiled down at him, patting his head. "I'll be gone for a while. You have food." He said and walked to the foyer, grabbing his keys.
When he stepped out he lit a cigarette, blowing the smoke out of his nose. He hated the habit and wished he could stop, but a voice inside him kept telling him that it was okay and that it was helping him. So he believed it.
...
"Okay, you know the drill. Nap is at five, she's allergic to bananas, and please don't smoke around her. Do it outside." Jin pointed a finger at Taehyung. "And don't put on the news."
Taehyung nodded, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "We'll be fine. Bye." He waved them away and closed the door, sighing after.
Aecha appeared and ran to the male, hugging him. "Uncle Taetae!" She bubbled, grinning up at him. Taehyung patted her head and looked around, staring at all of the family photos on the walls.
"Hey. Hungry?" The girl nodded and sprinted to the kitchen, Taehyung following in suit. "What do you want?" He wondered and looked through the full fridge and cabinets.
"Hm, macaroni and cheese." She bubbled. They were really close and Taehyung babysat her often because Jin didn't really trust anyone else that much with his kid.
He nodded and found a box. "No. Dad makes it by himself." She frowned. Taehyung let out a huff. "Who homemakes this?" He mumbled to himself and got the ingredients out.
...
"Smoking is bad."
Taehyung quickly threw the butt down and turned around. "Who's smoking?" He asked and pushed her inside. "You were. Dad says that smoking kills you." Aecha pouted and sat on the couch.
"I don't want you to die. Stop smoking." She poked his chest. Taehyung looked down and whispered a small, "Okay."
She grabbed the remote and changed the channel, the news coming on. Taehyung was thinking hard about something and didn't realize.
"I heard about him. You used to date him, right?" Aecha asked, pointing to the glamorous idol showing up.
"Huh?" Taehyung looked up and gasped, quickly taking the remote away and changing the channel. "Why'd you do that? He was pretty!" She tried to get it back but Taehyung held it up high so she couldn't reach.
"Yes...I did date him." He uttered, the girl stopping to listen. "We were going to get married." He croaked, his voice breaking.
The girl pouted. "Why didn't you?" She wondered, tilting her head to the side. She had heard her parents speaking about it before and always wondered why they weren't together anymore.
She also watched videos about the idol secretly and noticed that his oldest son looked a lot like Taehyung. But she never talked about it because she wasn't supposed to know anything in the first place.
"He...he left me for another guy. But we don't have to talk about that." He chuckled bitterly and searched for a cartoon.
"Well get him back!" She suddenly beamed and hopped onto Taehyung's lap. "I've seen him not looking happy with that dude! You can make him happy again by being with him again!"
Taehyung sighed and shook his head. "No, sweetie. We can't be together again. It's been seven years." He shook his head at her and pushed her off of his lap.
The girl huffed and lightly punched his arm. "You need to clean yourself up and then you can be together." She retorted. "Cut your hair, stop smoking and drinking and fix your mood." She then stood, stomping out of the room and upstairs.
The male watched after her with a frown and clicked the tv off. He knew she was right. Everyone told him the same, Jin especially. But he felt like he couldn't do it.
He thought Jungkook wouldn't want him back. He knew it by the contents on the letter he wrote that he wouldn't be back.
...
I went to bed early yesterday so here's a late update
