Seokjin stirs awake at the sound of the doorknob twisting. His eyes flutter open in time to see Namjoon walk in through the door. It takes a while for Seokjin to process his surroundings, suddenly aware of the weight on his thigh, looking down to see their son fallen asleep in his lap.
And just like that, everything comes rushing back. Taehyung asking him if he could stay up till Namjoon arrived since he missed his father but the minutes ticked by and eventually they'd both dozed off, waiting for Namjoon's arrival.
"Hey, babe," Namjoon greets with a tired smile, "It's well past midnight. Why are you and Tae on the couch?"
"We were waiting for you," Seokjin responds, tone soft yet clipped.
Namjoon raises a slight brow at the tone.
"I see. Your back will ache by morning if you continue to sleep here. I'll carry Tae upstairs. You do what you have to and sleep, alright?" Namjoon says.
Seokjin's heart warms a little at how caring Joon's tone is but right now, he's too angry to filter his words.
"We need to talk. Now."
"Right now?" Namjoon asks in a hushed tone.
"Yes, now."
But then Seokjin's gaze lands on their sleeping son.
"On second thoughts, put Tae in bed first. We'll talk soon after."
Namjoon blinks, seeming a little confused before he nods, moving over to gently carry the sleeping child in his arms before he disappears from the living room.
Seokjin takes a breath, rubbing sleep from his eyes. Today, by hook or by crook, he needs to get the message through Namjoon's thick skull.
