When the Clock Strikes Midnight

5:30 p.m

I wake up, rubbing my eyes. I look around, trying to figure out where I am. I see people laying on the ground around me. I recognize Hailey in the crowd. I quickly ran over to her, crouching beside her. I start shaking her shoulders, tears forming in my eyes.

"Hailey! Hailey, wake up! Please wake up!" Hailey starts groaning and stirs, I set her down gently on the grass, putting her head in my lap. She slowly opens her eyes. I start laughing, tears rolling down my face. She rubs her eyes and sits up, turning to face me.

"Where are we?" I pull her into a hug, crying into her shoulder. She wraps her arms around me and rubs my back, and I can feel her trying not to cry. I pull away, smiling at her.

"I don't know where we are. I just woke up a couple of seconds ago. The last thing I remember is being on the phone with the police. And then I remember waking up here." She nods, looking around.

"What are we supposed to do Peach? We aren't gonna survive this." I grab her shoulders, forcing her to look at me.

"You can't think like that. We are going to make it. I called the police. I'm sure that they are on their way. They will find us. And they will save us. You have to be optimistic. We are going to make it out of here. I promise." She smiles weakly, nodding. We hear someone groaning and we turn around. We see that a lot of people are waking up and are looking around, confusion all over their face. I see Jackson waking up and I instantly run to him. I throw myself at him, knowing he will catch me. He does and we roll over. I latch my arms around him, tucking my head into his neck. He sits up, wrapping his arms around me. I wrap my legs around him, crying into his neck. He rubs my back, whispering into my ear. I pull back, looking at him. Something in his face changes. He grabs my face and pulls me towards him. Our lips connect and I open my eyes in surprise. I quickly close them and start kissing him, wrapping my arms around his neck. I open my mouth and let his tongue explore inside of my mouth, our saliva mixing. Suddenly I feel him pull back, tears in his eyes.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that." I put my hand on his cheek, smiling.

"It's ok. I liked it." He smiles, grabbing my hand.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" I smile, nodding quickly.

"Yes. Yes I will. I would love to be your girlfriend." I quickly put my lips on him, kissing him. He kisses me back until we both pull back, smiling. Suddenly Jackson looks over my shoulder and his face falls.I turn around and see Katie just waking up. I quickly get off of him so that he can go over to her. He reaches her and pulls her up by her shoulders, pulling her into a hug. She bursts into tears and grabs him, shaking with sobs. I get up and walk around blankly, looking around for people I recognize. I look down and see Jack and Anthony laying beside each other, holding hands. They are both awake but just staring blankly. I kneel down beside them and reach out to touch their hands. They quickly sit up, staring at me. Jack bursts out crying. I reach over and pull Jack into my arms. Anthony then wraps his arms around both of us. I rub his back and grab Anthony's hand. We stay like this for a couple of minutes before Jack pulls away, rubbing his eyes.

"What are we gonna do Peach? How are we gonna survive this? I'm scared." I smile at him, grabbing his hand with my free one.

"It's gonna be ok. We're gonna survive this. I called the police before we ended up here. They are gonna find us, I promise." Jack sniffles and nods, smiling weakly at me.

"Good news though. Jackson just asked me out, and we already had our first kiss." Jack gasps, grabbing Anthony's hand.

"OMG!!!! I'm so happy for you guys! We better make it out of here. Because I seriously need to see this relationship happen." I giggle, pulling my knees up to my chest. I stand up, smiling down at them.
