The Choosing

This is a time skip 3 months ahead to when the house contestants get chosen.

Ethan McClain was excited for dinner, well he was always excited for dinner but he was even more excited, because each houses' contestants were being chosen. The Slytherins were talking excitedly and, as usual, ignoring Ethan. He walked into the Great Hall and looked around for him Gryffindor friends He saw them at the Gryffindor house table and was about to walk over, but the new, and really strict charms teacher, Professor Mcgonagall stopped him, "Mr. McClain you must sit with your house tonight," she said. "But Gryffindor is my house, I was sorted there," he protested. "You are also part of the house exchange and that means this year Slytherin is your house," she replies. Ethan glared at her, but held up his chin, turned around, and walked to the Slytherin table. He sat down as far away from the Slytherins as possible and glumly ate the food that appeared on the table, his excitement now gone. Ethan had not made any friends in Slytherin yet and didn't think he ever would, though he got hexed less and less now. Finally when everyone was done Headmaster Dippet stepped up to the podium and cleared his throat. Everyone immediately turned their heads, they knew what was coming. "As you all know it has been three months since I have announced the tournament and, as I'm sure you all know, tonight the contestants will be chosen," the headmaster started. He took out the hat, which Ethan did not like at all, and waved the wand over it, "It seems that we have a lot of students who want to be chosen this year," he smiled, "Now without further ado the contestants will be chosen, starting with Gryffindor's." Headmaster Dippet took out a slip of paper and Ethan was reminded of the beginning of the year when he was chosen to go to Slytherin. The headmaster read the name and said, "The Gryffindor's contestant is Tim Oapley!" he calls and a good looking Gryffindor with brown hair and blue eyes stood up. Ethan cheered and clapped along with the Gryffindors earning glares from the Slytherins, Tim was a nice guy and a good fighter, but not the brightest, hopefully he would do alright. He walked up to the front, not unlike Ethan had done. When the commotion calmed down Headmaster Dippet spoke again, "Now for the Hufflepuff contestant," he drew another name, "Poppy Catterick!" he calls. A nice looking girl with short blonde hair and green eyes stood up and walked to the front too. The Hufflepuffs clapped and cheered her on, except one who Ethan suspected was the Slytherin transfer. "For Ravenclaw, Harriet Page!" A smart looking girl with straight brown hair and brown eyes and glasses stood up and walked to the front, the Ravenclaws didn't cheer, Ethan supposed they were too 'proper' for that, but clapped. In his opinion, Ethan didn't think the girl would last a minute. "And last but not least Roy Accrington for Slytherin!" There were a bunch of hoots and clapping from the table Ethan was at, he just sat there not really interested. Roy stood up, he was a burly guy, but bright and good at dangerous spells, he was one of Ethan's main bullies. Roy walked up to the front. Headmaster Dippet smiled, "Now that we have our contestants the tournament will begin soon, but for now let's give them time to prepare. So good everyone it is time to go off to your common rooms and rest." Ethan groaned and look longingly as Gryffindor table who was standing up and leaving, then he followed the Slytherins back to their common room in the dungeons.
