Casey's POV

"Welcome to the lab!" Inside everything was so clean. The hallways were empty and quiet except for our footsteps. It reminded me of being in the CDC again. No one spoke as they took it all in. We passed the cafeteria, then the library, and rooms full of supplies. "Everyone please pick a room. If you can do two or more to a room. We will talk in the morning. Believe me when I say, you're safe here."

Carl and I chose a room that had two beds but we squeezed into one. He let me stitch up his bite mark but groaned the whole time. I laughed remembering my first bite and stitching it up myself. I kept asking him how he felt and every time he was fine. It was hard falling asleep. My head raced with all of the memories I've ever had. But those didn't matter. The ones that mattered were the ones with Carl and my true family.

When we woke I found fresh clothes at my door. I cringed remembering I fell asleep covered in blood. Luckily there were showers down the hall. I stood in the hot water washing every last drop of blood off of me. When I was finally clean I put on my new clothes. Carl had told me he was going to the cafeteria to check out what the food was like. I slowly approached the cafeteria hearing lots of unfamiliar voices. I stood in the doorway and all eyes went to me. For the first time in a long time I felt bare. My scars poked out more than ever and monster was written on my forehead.

But that's not how these people see me. People I've never seen before whispered my name. But it wasn't fear or taunting it was amazement. There were people of all ages looking healthy and happy as can be. I was even more ecstatic to see some of my people mixed in with the strangers.

"Casey." She stood up from her seat and I felt a wave of happiness come over me.

"Sara!" We both rushed into each others arms. She cried into my shoulder holding me as close as she could.

"We've been waiting so long for you." She wiped her tears. "I want you to meet someone. Casey... meet Casey Clarence or as we call her... CC." A little girl maybe a year older than Judith peaked out from behind her. I smiled squatting to her level. I held out my hand to her and she hesitantly took it. Instantly she began to trace my scars in amazement.

"Hello CC." I said and she smiled at her name.

"Casey." Jude approached. "Get yourself some breakfast and then we're going to talk."

I sat at a table with Carl, Rick, Judith, Michonne, and Daryl. They all patiently listened as I explained my story to them. We looked like a bunch of outcasts compared to these people who I'm sure have lived in comfort for quite some time now. When I finished eating I searched my memory for the path to Jude's office. Him and Sara sat inside awaiting me.

"We started the apocalypse." Was the first thing to leave my lips.

"We know... Casey we know and we've been living with it since." Jude sighed.

"Do they know?"

"No one does but please listen to us. We had no intentions of any of this! We aren't bad people or good people, we're just people who've made mistakes and learned from them. If that comes out this place won't be safe anymore. Your people wouldn't trust us and everything we've worked for would be for nothing." Sara sighed.

It's not lying if it's never spoken about.

"We've been searching for a cure and-" I cut him off.

"I know what the cure is." I'm not sure I've been right about a lot of things, but I have been right in this. I am the cure. "Carl was bitten yesterday and now he shows no signs of sickness or turning. When I first was with the group Carl got shot and I gave my blood to save him. Little did I know that wasn't the only thing my blood would be saving him by. It's me. It's my blood. I am the cure."
