Another night, another morning, another day. You look at nothing but the ceiling while you lay on the floor wide open. You watch the ceiling fan turn in an endless circular motion. Sighing, you look at the door.
"I miss talking to him."
Quickly, you get up, and slap yourself on the face.
"You can't think like that. Snap out of it," you tell yourself.
You drop your body back down and look back up at the ceiling, wondering what else to do. You could count to the highest number. Maybe just watch the ceiling fan go round and round again. You can't keep on waiting for Saiki as if he was your owner.
"One fish, two fish, three fish, four fish . . ."
■
"1,423 fish, 1,424 fish, 1,425-
You heard the door unlock from a distance. Quickly, you sat up and beam up. You wonder what Saiki got today, wondered what kind of food he was going to make. Maybe he got you knew art supplies? Or new games that you could play? You never know with him. Saiki is always full of surprises.
When you heard his footsteps getting closer, you stand up to walk up to the door and open it, but the wired rope around your leg stopped you and made you fall on your face. Saiki quickly opens the door when he heard a thud on the floor. You groan in pain as you hear many things drop on the floor. Saiki runs up to help you.
"What were you thinking?" Saiki questions, "Did you seriously have to get riled up just for me coming back?"
"I-I'm sorry. I got a bit too excited for the food," you say, "What are you thinking of eating tonight?"
"Well, I was planning on cooking some of your favorite foods."
"R-Really!" your eyes beam with excitement and joy.
Saiki nods and looks at your happy expression. It makes him all fuzzy inside. Being the reason for your happiness makes him really proud of himself. For the first time, he's responsible for an expression that he's always wanted to achieve.
"I was wondering if you'd like to cook some meals with me?"
"R-Really!" you beam even more of excitement.
Saiki nods.
"Y-Yeah! I-I mean, yes! Please!" you grab his shoulders in a promising manner, "I'll be in my best behavior! I promise!"
"Then let's go," Saiki says.
■
You were busy seasoning the meat while Saiki was chopping up the vegetables. Your waist was tied up tightly with a thicker wired rope. You didn't mind it, but it was quite itchy. Every time you move, it itched where the tight rope was tied, but you got used to it.
"I've finished seasoning the meat," you say, "Is there anything else I can do?"
"Nothing else," Saiki says, "I just finished chopping up the vegetables. Just bring it up at the stove. I'll get everything ready. You can just wait and watch."
"Okay," you say.
You walk up to the sink and start washing your hands. Startled, you flinch at Saiki's touch. You tried to look behind, but he brought his hands around your waist and his head on your shoulder.
"Thank you."
"F-For what?"
"For giving me another chance."
You were silent as you finished washing your hands.
"Do you mean it?" you mumble, "Or are you using me again?"
"What?"
You turn around and brought your wet hands onto Saiki's shirt, not afraid to get him mad at the moment.
"Every time you do something nice to me, you turn it back as something terrible. Like the time at the cafe . . . or when you were offering me those tissues at the nursery office . . ."
Saiki feels your hands on his chest as he found your expression sorrowful and sad, afraid that he'll trick you again. He brought his finger and lifted up your chin to make your teary eyes look up at him. He smiles at your face and glances what was right behind you. Soon, he brought himself to hide right behind you and back away slowly.
"Saiki, what are you doing-
"Be quiet and slowly back away . . ."
You were trying to look at what he meant. There was a window right above the sink, but there was no one outside. You look around the counter to find a cockroach on the floor. Figuring out what he meant, you laugh and turn around while Saiki held your wrist tightly and his other hand gripping your shoulder.
"Are you . . . scared of a small cockroach? A tiny bug?" you glance at his terrified face.
He clears his throat before saying anything.
"N-No," his voice cracks.
You laugh even more as you take his hands off of you.
"I'll take care of the cockroach if you let me help you cook."
"But that would be too dangerous for you. What if you accidentally burn yourself or-
"I may not know many things, but I know how to cook. My brother taught me a few things."
"There's no way I'll take the chance for you to get hurt."
"Cockroach or no cockroach?"
"F-Fine . . ." he says, giving you a knife, "Just kill it already."
"Wha- where'd you get the knife."
"Just kill the disgusting insect already."
You almost freeze from the three words that Saiki used to call you. Shaking with the knife in hand, you take a big gulp as you were afraid to let him down now. He's counting on you to kill this bug and there shouldn't be any mistakes.
Setting the knife down on the counter, you grab a cup from the sink and carefully walk up to the bug. Quickly, you trap the bug under the cup. Then, you get the cut board and put it against the counter, quickly sliding the cup on the board. Quickly, you slide it out the cup and in the trashcan.
"There, that should do it," you say as you put the board and cup down.
Almost immediately, you were caught off guard by Saiki hugging. You quickly had the back up and lean a bit over the counter, because of Saiki's unexpected attack.
"Thank you so much."
"Are you that afraid of bugs that much?"
You were about to laugh until Saiki tightens his hug on you, showing that he actually was. You slowly brought your hands around his and start to rub circles, not knowing what to do.
"It's okay. There are no more bugs," you reassure him.
You break the hug as you found Saiki smiling at you. You never seen him smile so thankful like that. Not ever. For a split minute, you felt warm in your face again. You quickly push him away due to the close contact and walk back to the food.
"L-Let's get this over with! I'm getting hungry."
