"Welcome home baby!" My mother greets me at the door. She hugs me tight and I can't say I don't missed being home.

"Hey Ma..." I say smiling as I hug her tightly back.

"Adel let the girl breathe, Zy welcome home princess." My father greets me and I hug him tight. Anyone who knows me knows I am a Daddy's girl. My father has been the most important man in my life, all twenty-three years of it too.

"Daddy hey, I am so happy to be home." I say to him.

"Hey big head..." My little brother hugs me and I smile.

"Benny hey squirt..." I say playfully hitting him before I hug him.

"Well I'm not invisible, hey Zy..." My older sister Elvina says as she rolls her eyes.

"Hey Vee I was saving the best for last." I say hugging my older sister who could be a bitch but we have our moments when things are great.

"Now that you're home baby I am sorry but I must rush you we are having a party and the guests are due to arrive in thirty minutes. Rosa how are my cream puffs coming along?" My mother says as she rushes towards the kitchen to our housekeeper. I follow behind her and give Rosa a big hug.

"Mija you are looking thin, we must fatten you up. Ms. Adel the cream puffs are perfect and your greens are smelling amazing as always." Rosa says as she hugs me back.

"Benny help your sister with her bags! Zy please get ready and remember this is a big day for your father. This is the biggest case he's won alongside his new protégé Matthew." My mother says and my body freezes.

"Matthew? As in Matthew Harrison?" I asked her hoping that she would say no.

"Yes sweetheart Matthew Harrison...Oh yeah that's right you two went to school together and was close right?" She says as Elvina comes into the kitchen.

"No Ma they weren't that close, besides Matty says they were really just friends. Oh by the way Zy I want to be the one to tell you this. Matthew and I are engaged and I am pregnant too." Elvina says flashing her ring. My stomach churned with the worst thoughts.

"Congratulations Vee...I...hope it all goes well...If you'll excuse me." I say rushing upstairs into my bedroom. This homecoming has gone to shit now, I should of signed up for my doctorate and been away another two or three years.
