The two men weren’t as frightened as they probably should've been. Sapnap was downstairs on the dark leather couch with Patches. He had a show playing in the background, but mainly paying attention to his phone. The man had looked up when he heard the TV switch to an emergency broadcast. The black haired man chuckled softly and texted his roommate, who was streaming upstairs.
Dream looked away from his monitor when he got a message on his phone. He picked it up and saw it was from Nick.
“This guy is such an idiot,” the dirty blond chuckled into his mic, his stream chat immediately asking him who he was talking about, “Don’t worry chat, it’s just Nick talking about some zombie movie or something.“
The streamer thought his joke was funny but when he saw his Twitch chat fly by with messages saying that some infected people got out and were roaming, Dream started to second guess himself.
“Chat… what are you guys talking about?” the blond asked, starting to worry. He soon saw his viewers telling him to stop streaming and get somewhere safe, his viewers leaving quickly themselves. The dirty blond ripped his headphones off as he ended the stream.
“Nick!” Dream ran down the sleek dark wood stairs as he yelled for his roommate. Sapnap looked behind the couch at Clay as he ran into the living room, the blond nearly falling due to his fuzzy socks.
“What did you see that made you text me that?” Dream asked in a rush, he gripped the back of the couch so tight his knuckles turned white. The Texen looked back at Clay, a little spooked, wondering why his friend looked so serious.
“Uh- I just saw it on some kind of news report,” the fire demon said, completely turning towards Dream on the couch. Clay looked up at the TV when the news reporter started to repeat what they had just said.
“And you thought this was a joke?” Dream looked at Nick, trying to not be mad that the younger male took this so lightly.
“What was I supposed to think when the news sounds like how every zombie movie starts?” Sapnap asked, raising his voice a little, “You can’t be mad at me for thinking it was a joke.”
Dream’s nose flared as he calmed himself, not wanting to fight. “Alright, Nick, let’s just grab everything we need and barricade ourselves upstairs, okay?” Sapnap nodded, getting up from the couch. “Get Patches’ things first, food, bowls, toys, I already have a scratching post and litter box in my room, and I’ll get things for us,” Clay explained as he went into the kitchen. Nick nodded in understanding.
The black haired man picked up the sleeping feline, her meowing in protest. The man headed upstairs with Patches in one arm and her container of cat food in the other.
He closed his roommate’s bedroom door after setting Patches down on the man’s dark green comforter. Nick headed downstairs, arms empty, and called out for Dream.
“Where’s Patches’ wet food?” the Texen yelled out as he picked up the feline’s custom food and water bowls. He dumped out the old water and stacked them as he got an answer.
“It’s above the stovetop, top shelf!” the blond yelled, running up the stairs.
“Why is it on the top shelf!? You know I can’t reach that high!” NIck yelled back, getting his knees up on the counter.
“It’s up there because I don’t trust you feeding Patches her breakfast,” Clay said as he walked into the kitchen. Dream takes the tins of wet cat food from Sapnap and puts them all in his bright green hoodie pocket.
“And why don’t you trust me feeding Patches?” the fire demon asked, his black pointed tail flicking in annoyance.
“Because last time you fed her, you gave her two full cans of wet food when I said to only give her half a can,” the blond stated as he filled his and Nick’s arms with bottles of water.
“Dude, that was one time, it was also when I first moved in, I think I know how to feed your cat, Clay,” Sapnap glared at the taller man as he followed him upstairs. Patches was crying out from the bedroom. The blond spoke to his kitty as he opened the door.
“I’m so sorry Patches, I know you’re confused but it’ll be alright,” Dream set the bottles of water down and put the cans of cat food aside. He then got to his knees on the soft carpet and hugged his beloved cat to his chest. She purred loudly and rubbed her face against Clay’s cheek. Both men turned to the clean white door that led to the hall when they heard frantic knocking at their front door.
They could faintly hear a voice as they neared the front entrance of the house, Patches safely upstairs in Dream’s bedroom. The closer they got to the door, the more they could make out what the voice was saying.
“Nick! Clay! Oh I really hope you guys are home, please let me in!” the voice called out. How did this person know where they lived? The more they listened the more they could hear an accent in the voice’s words, “Guys please! Dream! I got the thing for Patches like I said I would,” the voice said. Who had he talked to that said they would get something for Patches? Dream’s breath hitched as he thought of who was behind that door.George.
It had to be, George had promised he’d get a gift for the sweet kitty when he finally visited.
“George?” the blond breathed quietly, hoping it was actually the Brit and not someone random.
NIck glanced at Dream when he spoke. The younger of the two sped to the door and unlocked it quickly. His lips twitched up into a smile when he saw the tall Brit on the other side.
“Oh thank god you’re home,” George breathed as he rushed to hug the fire demon. The shorter being stunned for a second before hugging back.
The two pulled away from each other. “What are you even doing here George?” the Texen asked, closing the front door and locking it once more.
“I flew over as a surprise for you guys’” the Brit spoke with a grin. Sapnap’s tail swayed as he looked over the brunet’s shoulder at Clay with a bright smile. George looked at his friend with a confused expression, his smile dropping. The Brit turned to the blond behind him when his deep voice rang in his ears.
“George,” Dream said, almost breathless. He broke out into a large grin when the tall brunet dropped his bag and rushed to hug the American. George may be taller than Nick, but the Brit had to stand on the tips of his toes to get his chin on the blond’s shoulder. He’ll have to complain about that later.
“Alright, while this is very sweet and we finally have the Dream Team together, we still need to get prepared,” Nick said as he took George’s things upstairs. Once Sapnap was out of sight, the two pulled away from the hug.
“Nick is right, let’s head upstairs,” Clay said while the two men headed up to the second floor, the dirty blond keeping an arm around the brunet’s shoulders.
“Wow, Sapnap is right about something? And you’re admitting that?” the Brit smiled, “Where is Dream and who is this pretty boy in front of me?,” he asked with a joking smile, the blond laughed at that.
“You’re an idiot, you’re the one with pretty privilege, “ Clay shot back. George opened the door to the blond’s room, already seeing Nick sitting criss-cross on the comforter with Patches.
Sapnap crossed his arms with a small pout. “I don’t want to hear you guys flirting while I’m stuck in this room with you,” the youngest flicked his tail when the two started laughing. George closed the door as Dream walked over to his roommate. The blond pressed his large hands onto Nick’s bare knees and leaned in close to the black haired man. He had uncrossed his arms in shock but still kept them close to his chest.
“Aww, is Pandas jealous? You want to be flirted with too?” Clay said slowly, lowering his voice. Nick tensed when he felt the warm air from Dream brush over his face. The fire demon snapped out of his stupor and barred his sharp teeth at the blond.
“Get your paws off me!” Sapnap demanded as he pushed Dream away from him. Clay only laughed as Sapnap continued to pout.
