The suite was insane. When you first walk in there's a little sitting room with some sofas and a TV, and then when you come around the corner you find a huge king-sized bed and the door to the bathroom. It was all so grand but truly my favourite part was the huge window looking out over the bay.
This tour was the first real tour I had ever been on. Of course I'd done a few smalls shows and a couple tours around the east coast before, but we all stayed in the same motel room or we'd sleep in the back of the van. Having my very own suite the size of a small apartment was almost way beyond my comprehension.
I dropped my duffle bag down on the end of my bed and moved over to the balcony door, unlocking it and pushing it open. It was dark outside so I couldn't see anything past the road below, but I could smell the salty ocean air and I knew that I was going to love this view for the next few days. The smell reminded me of home.
ELLIE: be up in five x
While I waited for Ellie and Jimmy to come up with my suitcases, I made my way into the bathroom and stared at myself in the mirror. My blonde hair hung down to my belly-button, my green eyes were bright and my tan skin looked healthy. I was ready for this tour to start and I was ready to show the world who I really was.
I slowly stripped off my clothes and turned on the water.
By the time Ellie and Jimmy had made it up to my room with my suitcases, I was sitting on the bed in my towel watching videos on my phone and waiting impatiently for my room service to arrive.
Suddenly Ellie burst into my suite louder than I had ever imagined possible and immediately dumped one of my bags and a suitcase on the sofa in the sitting room.
"Oh my lord, I am so damn tired," she groaned, coming over and flopping down on the end of the bed in front of me. "I'm starvin' too, have you ordered room service yet?"
I plugged my charger into my phone and set it down on the beside table before I really looked at her. She did look exhausted. I mean, she had been running around like a crazy person since we'd arrived so I couldn't blame her.
"Uhhhh, I ordered a cobb salad and a pepperoni pizza," I told her, patting the pillow next to me. "You can share it with me."
Ellie rolled over onto her stomach and crawled up the bed to settle down on the pillow and closed her eyes.
I watched her scratch at the bridge of her nose and then got distracted by Jimmy coming in a few minutes later pulling two suitcases and holding another bag. He set them down in the sitting room a lot nicer than Ellie had when she'd barged her way in. He then took one look at me and Ellie and let out a laugh.
"She has been out there in the lot yelling at everyone."
I glanced back down at Ellie and couldn't help but to laugh too. She'd apparently fallen asleep the moment her head had hit the pillow, and she was laying with her arm wrapped over her eyes and her mouth slightly open.
"Yeah, she's had a big day," I defended her with a grin. "Leave her alone."
Jimmy laughed again and slowly shook his head. "If you say so. Anyhow, I'm headin' off to bed. I left Lenny in our room by herself and think I may have left my wallet out in the open."
We both knew that was a huge mistake.
"Yeah, I would go secure that if I were you," I told him. "That girl was real mad at you when you wouldn't let her in downstairs."
Jimmy grinned back at me. "You woulda done the same thing, Emmelin Lennox."
I laughed because I knew it was true and waved my hand at him dismissively. "Alright then, you go to bed papa Jim. I'll see you in the morning."
Jimmy came over and kissed the top of my head. "Goodnight darlin'."
As Jimmy started moving towards the door to leave, there was a knock.
"Oh, that would be my dinner!" I moved to get up to get the door but Jimmy waved his hand at me to stop.
I listened as he greeted the hotel staff member and accepted my dinner from them. He then told them goodnight and a moment later was back in view carrying a large pizza box and a plastic bag with my container of salad inside.
"Goodnight for real this time," he said.
"Night Jimmy."
When I heard the door click shut behind Jimmy I looked down at Ellie and contemplated waking her up to eat. She'd had a busy couple of hours organising my life downstairs so I knew she was exhausted and ultimately decided to let her sleep. I wasn't going to eat it all and if she woke up, it would be waiting for her.
I chose to eat my dinner in silence, basically in flight mode. All I could think about was how much I wanted to curl up under my blankets and finally get some sleep. There was a huge chance that I wouldn't be getting a lot of sleep on this tour. The shows would get my adrenalin pumping, I would more than likely end up at a bar afterwards, and there would be a lot of time spent on the tour bus. Yeah I could sleep on a tour bus, but it could be a little repetitive and bumpy. And this tour was going to be a long one.
Once I was done eating I put the leftovers in the suite fridge and searched the room for a spare blanket for Ellie. She was out like a light and there was no way I would be able to pull the blanket out from under her. I found one on the top shelf of the closet and draped it over her and she groaned in her sleep, rolling onto her other side and gripping the blanket in her hands.
"Little sleeping beauty," I laughed to myself.
Remembering I was still only in a towel I grabbed one of my brothers oversized t-shirts from my suitcase and pulled it over my head, pulled on a pair of underwear and when I was ready I switched off the light and crawled under the covers, finally ready to get some sleep.
