After a long and drawn out lunch (on my part of course) of me snacking on a fruit bowl with yogurt and a big old glass of Dr. Pepper with ice, Ellie was ushering me off to my in-ear monitor appointment. It wasn't a lengthy appointment, the guy was quiet and a little shy so without the chatter we were done within twenty minutes.

"Thank you so much," I said as he pulled the wedge out of my mouth keeping my jaw open. "How long do you think they'll take to make?"

He leant against the table and shrugged one of his shoulders. "Well, your manager was pretty insistent that we get them done as soon as possible, so it really shouldn't take more than a few days. You'll have them before Thursday though."

"Oh wow, that's fast!" I noted. My last pair of monitors took at least three and a half weeks to be made and then an extra two weeks for me to receive them. "I thought they normally took a bit longer."

"Nah," he smiled. "Your manager knows the right people. She went directly to my supervisor and he's given the go ahead for us to fast track them."

"Oh, right." I knew Ellie was a bit of a go-getter but I didn't realise that she had these types of connections. In hindsight though, I probably should have known better, it was Ellie after all. "You know what? That makes a lot of sense and I'm not really surprised... Ellie has this way about her where she gets what she wants," I laughed.

"Yeah, she seems like the type," he laughed.

Just then, the door swung open and Ellie herself made her way into the room.

"Speak of the devil and she shall appear," I joked.

Ellie stopped in her tracks and raised her eyebrows, giving me a suspicious look before smiling and continuing on. She opened her purse and pulled out her planner, flipped through a few pages and stopped to take out someone paperwork and a what looked like a cheque.

"Alright, here you go Simon," she stated, handing the paperwork and cheque over. "If you could please pass these along to Michael for Emmes' monitors for me..." She stuffed her planner back into her purse. "And could you please let him know that I'll give him a call on Thursday once the monitors arrive?"

"Yeah, of course," he quickly shuffled through the paperwork before folding them up and slipping them into his own planner, which he then put into the case he used to carry his work supplies. "Alright, that's me done. It's been a pleasure, Ellie... Enjoy your tour Emme, I've got tickets to see you in Raleigh with my cousin."

"Oh nice! That's a home show for me!" I exclaimed.

"Yeah my boyfriend and I are flying in to see family in Fayetteville," he told me, shutting his case and yanking the handle up. "We're going with my cousin and her husband."

"That's so exciting! I hope you enjoy the show!"

"Yeah, it's going to be gr-"

"I'm really sorry to interrupt, but Emme, we have to go," Ellie interrupted, looking at her watch. "We have to meet with Morgan and Phil in the lobby in like two minutes..." She turned to Simon and gave him a big smile. "Thank you so much for your time today, Simon."

"Absolutely no problem, Ellie," Simon replied. He started heading towards the door. "Have a lovely rest of your day, ladies."

"Bye Simon, enjoy the show!" I called after him.

"We will, thank you!" He called back.

Ellie looked to where I was sitting and took a deep breath. "Alright, lets go."

I got up and slowly followed Ellie from the room. She was a woman on a mission and had already made it all the way to the end of the hallway to the elevators before I'd made it even a quarter of the way. I watched her jab her finger against the button and then scowled at her as she waved her arm at me to hurry up when the doors opened. We rode down to the lobby with a kind looking elderly couple and their rambunctious grandchildren.
