It was a warm September afternoon in rural mid-Michigan. The scenery was beautiful, birds were chirping, and there was a little stream for animals to drink from. The previous day, a Pokémon by the name of Mewtwo had broken free from its prison: a science lab on Cinnabar Island. It was being tested upon by many scientists who had been attempting to successfully clone a Pokémon. It had tried and failed with several other species of Pokémon. Mewtwo was the only success. During its incubation, it had gone through a lot of trauma, losing the friends it loved so dearly. It didn't know how to cope, and wanted vengeance for what the scientists did. Mewtwo broke free of its incubation pod and made its daring escape.  As it had escaped, it left no remnants of the laboratory. Thousands were killed, and the building was destroyed. Mewtwo wanted to find a place where it would be safe and solitary, and it did. Fast forwarding, Mewtwo had bent down to take a drink from the stream. However, there were two Pokéhunters by the names of Gregory Sampson and Jeremy Merin who had tracked down Mewtwo's location. They were intending to catch this machine of a Pokémon and use it to never lose a duel again. Gregory was six-foot-two, had dark brown hair, had a mole, and wore facial piercings. Jeremy was five-foot-eleven, had black hair, and a full beard.
"What's our plan?" Jeremy whispered to Gregory.
"See that tube on its neck?" Gregory quietly asked Jeremy, who nodded in response, "If you grab it, Mewtwo'll go limp. It won't be able to move. That's when I throw my Poké Ball. When I throw it, you let go of Mewtwo, because you know what happens if you don't."
"Yep. Get caught in the ball." Jeremy replied.
"Good," affirmed Gregory, "I brought some explosives if plans go south. Now I'll let you know when you need to go." They waited for about two minutes before Gregory whispered, "Now."
Jeremy quietly tiptoed closer to Mewtwo until he was about a yard away. He then stopped, and proceeded to sprint at Mewtwo. He grabbed Mewtwo's neck tube, causing the Pokémon to go limp. Gregory quickly threw the Poké Ball, and Jeremy jumped off the Mewtwo at just the right time.
"We got it!" Gregory exclaimed, thinking that the Mewtwo was firmly inside the Poké Ball. Mewtwo, however, was quick to break free.
                "Oh, fuck." Jeremy said.
"You fools!" Mewtwo shouted in his deep, menacing voice. "The audacity you possess to try and capture the world's strongest Pokémon! It's honestly humorous."
"Mewtwo," Jeremy said. "I don't know what's going through that fucking mind of yours, but you know you're not escaping this situation without being in a ball. We're not backing down without a fight. And if a fight is to be had, then bring it on."
"If you insist," Mewtwo sarcastically replied, while quickly throwing a huge punch at Jeremy, knocking one of his teeth out.
                "Then it's war!" Gregory yelled.
Gregory attempted to hit Mewtwo with a strike, but failed. Jeremy got up and tried to slide under Mewtwo's legs, and he successfully hit a strike to the groin, hurting Mewtwo.
"Get him, Jerems!" Gregory yelled, gesturing for Jeremy to grab Mewtwo's neck tube. Jeremy successfully latched onto the tube, while Gregory was planting an explosive on the ground. Gregory would then throw the Poké Ball at Mewtwo, and Jeremy jumped off. Mewtwo stayed in for longer than the previous attempt, but still broke free.
"Fuck!" Jeremy exclaimed. "You should've brought a Master Ball, Greg!"
"I know!" Gregory replied. Jeremy then decided to improvise when he spotted the explosive on the ground. He grabbed Mewtwo, and tried to pull him towards the explosive. Mewtwo responded to the tie-up by attempting to push Jeremy onto the explosive. They kept backing up until Jeremy tripped over a rock, bringing Mewtwo down with him. They landed right on top of the explosive, which immediately exploded, killing Jeremy and severely injuring Mewtwo, who had cuts and bruises all over itself now. Gregory couldn't do anything but flee the scene, hoping the police wouldn't come. Mewtwo had landed in a patch of tall grass, and there it would stay for approximately thirty minutes. Then, a seventeen-year-old kid who had decided to wander into the wilderness approached the grass, not knowing what he would find. His name was Alec Marchand. He was five-foot-ten, slightly lanky, and had dark hair. He wore denim jeans, Adidas shell toe shoes, and a black t-shirt with the words 'Bullet For My Valentine' written on it in crimson.
"My god," Alec responded after seeing the unconscious Mewtwo. He checked to see if it still had a pulse, and it did, though it was very weak. He quickly called someone on his phone and said, "Micah, I'm gonna need your van."
Alec would wait for about ten minutes before Micah would show up. When he got out of his van, he asked, "Why do you need my van?"
"Come here and I'll show you why." Alec replied. Micah quickly hurried up and when he saw Mewtwo, he was shocked.
"Is it alive?" Micah asked, to which Alec nodded. "What are you planning to do?"
"I'll take it home and let it rest up and heal there. I know what they did to Mewtwo and I want to prove to it that not all humans are bad."
"Are you sure? This is really risky."
"I know what I'm doing, Micah. Trust me, I'll be fine." They loaded Mewtwo in the back of Micah's van, and they drove to Alec's house. Alec carried the hefty Mewtwo into his house, and laid him on the floor of his bedroom. Alec grabbed the gauze and bandage from his medicine cabinet and bandaged Mewtwo up. He set up an air mattress for Mewtwo to sleep on, as well as giving it a pillow and blanket for comfort. Alec didn't know yet that the kind gesture that he did would forever change not only his life but Mewtwo's as well. The rest of the day Mewtwo would sleep. The next morning, Alec woke up and Mewtwo was still asleep. Alec checked for Mewtwo's pulse again, and it felt normal. Alec sat in front of Mewtwo for about five minutes waiting for it to wake up. Then, it did.
