The child sat silently at the front porch of the cabin. She was cold. She hugged her stuffed bunny closer to her, still hoping for her father to come back. She was surprised to see the man from early on appear before her with a large smile.
"Hello young one. We meet once again," He says bowing with one hand behind his back and the other taking her own. She looks up at him with a blank expression.
"Do you know when my dad is coming back?" She asks, feeling completely numb. The creature stands back up tilting his head.
"Why don't we check out inside this peculiar looking cabin, shall we?" He says with a chuckle.
"Okay," The girl mumbles, taking his hand as he pushes open the door.
She knew her father wasn't coming back. She was alone. Only to be brought back to reality when the man tsked at the filthy room before them. She looks around a little scared. The wooden floor was covered with dirt, dust, and dead bugs. Piled in the corner of the kitchen were boxes filled with garbage, littered across the floor. She watched a spider scurry across the floor in front of her causing her to squeal. The walls were covered in moss and graphite including strange holes, broken boards, and more garbage and insects infested the cabin. The girl clings to the man's arm unintentionally. He looks down at her with an amused look. With a snap of his finger, everything disappears, the floors fix back to what they once were, the kitchen counters are squeaky clean, the hallway, bedroom, and open area are now more presentable. He even adds furniture and necessities throughout the entire cabin. She gawks in awe and surprise. This man is definitely a magician.
He claps his hands together, chuckling to himself.
"Now, let's get you situated, shall we?" He says, taking the girl's hand leading her to the bedroom. Upon entering the room, she says that he has set up a large bed with blue sheets and big, white soft pillows. In the corner of the room sits a desk with an old radio dated from the 1920s, which oddly matches the strange man's fashion. He opens the closet to present her lots of clothes, increasing in size up to big adult clothes. She was set until she grew.
"You know, I've realized I've never gotten your name, deary," He says, watching her awed face as she looks around.
"Oh, I uh, my name is Elizabeth. But... father always called Ella," She said with an awkward smile.
"And I, my dear, am Alastor!" he says enthusiastically, his radio like voice clapping in the background. She giggled as he spread his arms wide, introducing himself to you.
The ring she wore glowed, catching booths attention. He bent down to her level, patting her head.
"Go get some rest deary. I shall cook you up a delicious meal in the morning." Alastor says, gently pushing her towards the bed, snapping his fingers to dress her in an oversized T shirt for her pajamas. She yawns loudly, climbing into the bed. He turns around to leave before he hears her speak.
"Mister Alastor?"
"Yes, Ella?" He says gently as she looks at him from across the room.
"Thank you," She mumbles quietly. His heart jolted slightly as he nodded at her without saying any more.
