"You are the last generation of this family, Yurki Zen. Marry, live and secure wealth. Be the man of your own honor and be free."

Those are the last words of my Obasan before she died in her deathbed. I was kneeling in front of her when that happened, the next thing I knew. I am in my cousin's house. Ralia, with long hair and colorful dress.

"Welcome to the Philippines, Yurki. I'm your Ate Ralia."

I just nodded to her.

"Your room will be in the right wing." She instructed.

"Hai, ari--ugh, salamat po." I replied, struggling to shift in another language."

"It's alright. You can speak whatever language you want, I can understand."

I look at her with light in my eyes. "anata wa nihongo wa hanashi masu ka? (You speak Japanese?)

Ralia nodded, "Hai"

"Sugoi!"

The longer I stay there, the more I learned. Nag-aral ako nang mabuti para matuto mag-tagalog. Hindi ako pumayag na mag-aral sa pribadong paaralan. Hindi rin ako kumuha nang tutor. Gusto ko ako lang, matuto ako sa sariling paraan. In my 6th grade, I meet this cute little girl. She is playing with my cousin Ralia.

"Get out if the way!" She once said to me.

Hindi ako gumalaw. She did not say please instead she spit words in front of me.  That's disrespecting. If she's in Japan, she's doomed by this behavior.

"Narinig mo ba ako, sabi ko tabi!"

"You are disrespectful child. Don't you know how to say please?" I lean to level her height.

"At bakit naman ako magpli-please sa'yo, matanda kana ba?" Sagot niya pabalik.

"Of course, I am. Grade 6 na ako at ikaw?"

"Grade 4!"

"That's why you're still a kid and I'm older than you."

"i nyeoseogeun neomu jjajeungna (This guy is so annoying)" She murmured.

"Annoying, huh?" I scoff.

She gasped, also shocked.

"Y-You understand korean?"

"Yes, so next time don't bad mouth me. I know languages." I smile

"Tch! Mayabang, marunong kaya ako mag-french at german!" She reasons out.

"Still, bad mouthing someone older than you is not good." Parangal ko.

"Whatever, hindi ka naman gano'n ka tanda sa'kin e, duh!"

Aba't batang 'to!

Bago pa ako makapagsalita ulit ay nawala na siya sa aking harapan. Simula noon, tuwing biyernes nang hapon ay nakagawian ko ng makita siya sa bahay namin.

"Yurki-kun!" She called.

"Mandy-chan, school's over?"

"Yes, and there's that mean girl earlier. She thinks she's better than me, but I aced the test." She shrugs and sits beside me on the balcony.

"Where's my bestie?" She added.

"She's still inside her room, reading. Do you want me to call her?"

Umiling siya. "I understand, I don't need to study because I'm exempted to the exams."

"That's very good, Mandy-chan. I am proud of you!"
