I just realised I forgot to name chapter 11 xD So I decided to write chapter 12 cus I have nothing to do. Its christmas eve too so merry christmas!!
Ei wanted to be a good mother to her son. She wanted to support him during his hard times. That was all she wanted to do as she cast her divine gaze onto the now sleeping Scaramouche while sitting beside him. Though he had a cold and ominous aura to him, when he was asleep, it was as if all that coldness had disappear. He looked like cat that was sleeping. peacefully under the glistening, moonlight glaze. Ei found it rather cute as she stroked the strands of his hair.
Scaramouche oftentimes had one of those nightmares where he would wake up with tears in his eyes. This, of course, made Ei worried. She knew that nightmares he had were related to the trauma he had to experience in those past 500 years. She felt a bitter and sour feeling within her that threatened to spill. After all, she was the cause of it. And she had to fix it. For Scramouche's happiness.
With that, she closed her eyes, being overwhelmed by fatigue. Dozing off in a position while she was sleep-sitting. Otherwise, wouldn't she fall on Scramouche?
As Scaramouche opened his eyes, he was surprised to see his mother's sleeping face. Without thinking, he reached out his hands to poke the cheeks of his mother. Her cheeks were rather chubby, he thought. Putting that hand down, he got up and straightened himself.
He had the same nightmare as always. Where he was abandoned by his mother a second time for not being enough. He felt that he wasn't enough for his mother. So he wanted to prove himself with this second chance he had redeemed from her. He simply thought that by doing this he was being a good son. But did a son ever have to be so perfect for his mother? And did a mother ever have to be perfect for her son? He couldn't trust that his mother wouldn't abandon him for the second time. Didn't that child from the third betrayal promise him the same thing?
He too wanted to be the best son to his mother. As the saying, like mother, like son. (Someone tell me if this is a saying...Idk)
"You're awake? We can have tea for breakfast! It's bitter and I'm sure you will like it! I'll make some right now," Ei greeted as she was greeted by the sight of Scaramouche.
Too immersed in his thoughts, he gasped as he heard Ei's voice. He nodded his head, hiding his emotions from her. He wanted to be strong in front of her, to be called a perfection. An ambitious dream, indeed.
Just then, there was a burning smell that emitted the air. What could have happened in the kitchen?
"Uhmm Kunikuzushi, how long does it take to boil tea?" Ei called out in a distressed voice.
Scaramouche rushed to the kitchen as fast as he could. His mother looking at him with confusion in her eyes. She did not know when to put out the fire despite the strong burning smell. Looking at the chaos that was happening in the kitchen, Scaramouche didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. (My favourite line from tgcf)
What was there to expect from a god who had not cooked in all her lifetime. She wanted to try something new by making breakfast for her son but she had failed miserably. "Put out the fire now!" Scaramouche replied, rushing into the kitchen to get a pot to fill with water.
Fortunately, they managed to put out the fire before burning the kitchen to ashes. The guards that guarded Tenshukaku was also not notified of this incident in the kitchen. Thus, there was no need to go through the trouble to explain to them what had happened. Despite the terrible outcomes that could have happened had Scaramouche not put out the fire, Ei chuckled as Scaramouche watched her in confusion.
"It seems my attempt at cooking has not been succesful... I'll try better to cook for you next time!" Ei suggested. However, as soon as she said that, Scaramouche dismissed the idea, not wanting to imagine what could have happened if she tried to cook again. She'll probably burn down the whole kitchen or worse...
But for some reason, he felt at ease after that incident. He felt more relaxed with Ei. Certainly there would always be the benefit of the doubt. Though Scaramouche has yet to realise what was the cause of that benefit!
