Crowding Inazuma were tourists from all over teyvet, knowing that that day was the japanese festival ( Genshin doesn't celebrate japanese new year but I will. ) Fireworks released by the Nagonohara clan was a fantastic choice.

Ei had something in mind, something to show her token of gratitude to him. After months of pending time with his mother, Scaramouche has developed a sort of new perspective towards his mother. This time, she wasn't a god, a master or someone he should be inferior with. She was his mother. He could share anything with her, his problems or even his inner thoughts. Just someone he could be chill and cool with.

He had suffered through so much pain at the hands of every person he had ever been close to. As such, he had built a wall of aloofness around him. After finally discovering that his friend didn't betray him but instead wanted to show his gratitude, that wall around him started to crack. With his final moments, all that friend wanted was for Scaramouche to finally have a heart, to feel complete and whole and to understand this world better. Because in this world, there are many wonderful things that he has yet to see.

Under the glistening moonlight sat Scaramouche, the moon smiled gently at him as she played hide-and-seek among the clouds, the star winking cheerfully at him every so often. And as he pondered his bleak future, the gentle breeze took him in its loving arms,  whispering comforting words. His sorrow seemed to ebb away at this tiny spot.

"Kunikuzushi, I have something to give to you for your birthday. I hope you like it, in late memory of your friend," Ei whispered, hoping that she wasn't disturbing him. He widened his eyes in confusion, but accepted his mother's gift. At least someone remembered his birthday.

He opened the gift box, only to find an extraordinary gift. It was a heart?

"I'm not mocking you with this gift though. This was an artificial heart I made. I'm sorry I didn't include this in your body. I'm giving you this to remind you that it's okay to have human feelings. Never forget that, okay? Also,  I noticed how upset you were when your friend was mentioned. I did some prior research to his family's background and have paid visit to them personally. You have made some good friends in this world and I'm proud of you," she smiled.

Accepting this gift, a warm feeling exploded in his chest as if he finally had the freedom to do everything he wanted. He looks up, thinking about his past, as a sincere smile forms on his face. A look of happiness can be seen within his eyes, as the corners of his lips started to curl upwards. A warm feeling of gratitude starts filing his chest, a tinge of warmth can be felt.

"Thank you for everything, for giving me a life and the freedom," he speaks quietly but with earnestness.

"Also, I want to tell you something..." Ei's face going red, blushing. "I love you."

"I... love you too," he smiled for the first time as that wall of aloofness finally fell apart.
