Peter watched the street through the window of his dorm's lobby. Instead of being locked away in his room and getting settled back into his dorm room, Peter found himself all dressed. His foot tapped impatiently at the floor as he checked his watch again for the umpteenth time in two minutes.

He'd been waiting a total of five minutes, which was a lot in his book. And just as he was about to head back up to his room because he thought something else more important came up, a familiar car screeched to a stop in front of the dorm building.

Immediately after seeing the car, Peter was booking it to the exit.

There was a wide grin on his face as he made his approach to the car. Peter opened the passenger seat's door, dipping down so his upper body was in the car, escaping the slightly humid night and being greeted with cool air. He stared in admiration at the driver who was looking the best he'd ever seen her.

"How's the birthday boy during?" she gave a small smile.

Peter smiled back at her even wider than he already was, which should've quite honestly been impossible, "Better now that my favorite person's present."

"Get in the car?" she rolled her eyes with a half-laugh. But when Peter didn't and just stared at her like she was stupid, the girl rose a brow, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Y/n, sweetie, darling, baby, pookie bear, love of my life," Peter started, throwing in a sarcastic pet name. "We almost got in an accident last time I let you drive."

She shrugged, "It was an accident."

"You almost getting us into an accident was an accident...?" he furrowed his brows slightly with a playful smile. She nodded her head slightly unsure but also with the most confidence he'd ever seen her do anything with; Peter chuckled at that. "Alright, get out the drivers seat. You can be passenger princess while I drive us back up to Queens. How does that sound?"

"Do I get to choose the music?" she asked, squinting her eyes at him suspiciously as she did so.

Peter shrugged, "Anything you want."

"Deal."

Then she was stepping out of the car, and they were trading seats. Peter adjusted the rear view mirror, and y/n scrolled through her phone for a good playlist. He made sure she was buckled up before starting his way back to New York.

The two of them spent the drive catching up one everything they'd missed since the week they had been apart. If school had started, they would've been separated for a much longer time. But school didn't start until the end of August, and Peter just wanted to get his stuff moved back in before hoards of families were showing up on campus to move in their freshmen.

Somewhere along the ride, the two found themselves stuck in traffic. So while they waited, Peter found himself staring at the girl in complete adoration.

Peter Parker knew he was screwed the summer going into seventh grade. It was then that he actually started noticing her. Not just as the girl who he could tease and had every class with since preschool, but also the girl who sometimes couldn't remember which ways her 'd's and 'b's went. She was the girl that couldn't subtract most double digit numbers in her head quickly.

She was the girl Peter Parker had fallen madly in love with.

"What?" y/n asked, breaking Peter out of his trance.

He smiled, shaking his head and turning back to facing the road, "Nothing, damsel. You just continue to sit there and look pretty, m'kay?"

It felt like the hour and a half it took to get back home was over in an instant.

"So where are we going first?" Peter asked.

"Well Cairo and May are doing stuff tonight. I called them on the way to you; they said we'd all celebrate your birthday together tomorrow and that tonight just you and I should do something," she started to answer. "You just turned 21, so I was thinking the bar...?"

Peter hummed, "But you're legally not allowed to drink for quite a bit. How about I grab something from a store and then we can head on up to your place." He paused as they came to a stop at a red light, turning his head to face her. "And then you and me can get some trashy take out and get a little buzzed, maybe have some fun and then fall asleep to something of your choosing. How does that sound?"

The light turned green before Peter could see her physical reaction. Had it still been on red, Peter would've been able to see the large smile that took place on her features. She loved how he was always thinking about her even when it was supposed to be his night.

"That sounds nice," she mumbled, settling back in her seat. But then she remembered the part about having fun and she punched him in the arm. "And don't plan out whether or not we have sex. That's just weird."

"Hey, I just said 'fun'! I never clarified whether that meant fucking you senseless or just playing a board game," Peter defended himself with a smug little smirk.

The girl rolled her eyes but didn't press the topic any further.

As planned, Peter went into some liquor store and got a bottle of wine, they stopped at a Chinese food place, and then they went up to her apartment. As planned, they ate the takeout and drank enough wine for them to be buzzed but not drunk off their asses. As planned, but also not as planned, there was a small kiss that lead to the two of them naked in her bed. And finally, as planned, they watched a movie of the girl's choosing.

That next morning, y/n woke up in Peter's arms. He was already up and watching some show when the girl started stirring in his arms. Peter began to rub small, comforting circles on her back. He smiled down at her as she slowly adjusted to the little bit of light. Then he greeted her with the same old, same old.

"Morning, Sunshine."
