We carried on walking further into the town,
"This place is deserted," I whined as I sped up slightly, God I was hungry, "you recon there's any food shops round here?" I asked twirling round in a circle.
"Slow down speedy," Wade jokes before looking around himself, "Maybe there's one further ahead?"
"Yeah, maybe."
"Miss Ambrose," Wade read off a sign plastered onto the wall, "Wonder how many teeth you have to have to win that one." He said grinning at me, I laughed in response and lightly punched his arm.
"You wanna piggy back?" He asked as his lip quirked into a slight grin.
"I thought you'd never ask!" I teased laughing as I jumped onto his back.
"Ohhhh Wade! Look a pet store!"
"Seriously Jess?" He said with a laugh before walking over to the store his hands holding tightly to my thighs to stop me from falling,
"You can't tell me you don't find those puppies adorable,"
"Yes they're very cute, now can I just go get this fan belt?" He replied tilting his head up and to the side to look at me,
"Fine." I said with a pout as he began to walk towards what seemed to be an abandoned gas station.
"Hello?"
"Is anyone in here?" I jumped off of wades back and headed over to the building, I opened the door and stuck my head through, "hello?" I asked again but got no response.
"You see anyone?" Asked wade walking over to me,
"Nope, no one." I sighed slightly, suddenly my phone began to ring, I fumbled around part of my jeans trying to find it before grabbing it and pulling to to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Hey it's Paige, we're heading back."
"Why? What happened?" I asked slightly concerned,
"Traffic," she sighed before speaking louder over the noise in the background,
"And those two idiots won't stop fighting!" She snapped, I laughed knowing exactly who she was talking about she cursed them a few more times before saying, "Did you get that fan belt thingy?"
"No,there's no one at the gas station." I turned slightly as wade made his way towards me before walking towards the road, "I don't know where we're going right now."
"So where do you want us to pick you up?" She questioned
"Uh why don't you just head up the road we got off at for the camp site, it's washed out at the end, call us when you get there, we'll meet you." I replied stumbling slightly as I tried to keep up with wade,
"Well camp in the same place as yesterday, just y'know away from the pet cemetery." I giggled slightly before saying.
"Cool, see you then."
"Hey, there's that house of wax." Wade said gesturing over to the massive building.
"Wade, what about the fan belt?" I smiled at how easily distracted he got.
"Well there's no one at the station." I sighed before looking over towards the church where loud voices and church music was emanating from.
"Why don't we ask someone in the church?" I asked looking back at wade.
"Okay, alright." He said before turning and making his way towards it, me close behind. I skipped over to the big doors and up the stairs before pushing the large door open and stepping inside.
"Now, say a prayer for our recently deceased friend." I gulped as I looked around, the angry faces of the priest and the man kneeling next to the coffin staring at me.
"Oh, um we should go." I mumbled apologetically, looking up at wade as he mouthed a 'sorry' in their direction.
"Should we wait or..." I trailed off
"I dunno, I feel kinda messed up waiting outside for a funeral to end."
Wade said running a hand across his face. I didn't have a chance to reply before the door behind me creaked open revealing the man from beside the casket.
"I'm so so sorry." I said eyes wide.
"Yeah man, we're so sorry about walking in we didnt know-" he was cut off by the man,
"You shouldn't of walked in."
"Yeah, I know. It's just that we have car trouble and we're not from this town." I looked down at he floor as the man lit a cigarette and pressed it to his lips, God did I need one of them, but Nick had my pack and I wasn't about to ask the guy who we'd just interrupted the funeral of someone's for a fag.
"We were actually just looking for a guy named Bo, works at a gas station."
"You've found him." Mumbled the man, cigarette still pressed between his lips,
"Really? Well um," wade coughed awkwardly before continuing, "we need a fan belt, we were camping up the road-" once again the man cut wade off,
"A fan belt?" The man asked as he turned to us with his eyebrows raised,
"Uh yeah" said wade
"You walk in on a fucking funeral for a fucking fan belt?" He snapped angrily. God I felt bad. "Let me just go dump the casket in the ground, I'll be right there." He said throwing his cigarette to the side before walking past me and into the church.
"We really are sorry." I said as he walked past, he just ignored me and carried on.
"That's twice today. I'm an asshole. Let's just get back to the road." Wade mumbled his posture slouching slightly. We began to walk back when a voice behind us made us turn back.
"Hey, alright I'm sorry, someone very special to me passed and I didn't mean to take it out on you." He said looking directly at me,
"Oh no it's totally understandable." I said quickly as I looked up at him,
"I reckon things will wrap up soon, I'll meet you back at the station on about a half."
"That would be great if that's okay." I said smiling. He nodded a crooked smile on his lips,
"Alright," he said before looking over at wade and then turning around to go back to the church.
"Great." I said smiling over at wade as I walked towards the gate. I expected him to follow but turned when he remained stationary,
"What?" I asked walking back over.
"Nothing, I just wouldn't let Nick see him looking at you like that, he might end up back in prison."
"Okay that's three times today," I said with a glare, "your an asshole." I then began to walk further up the hill towards the wax building, " Let's go see your famous house of wax." I snapped slightly as I walked faster. I heard wade jog to keep up shoes slapping against the concrete.
"I'm still your favourite asshole right?" He asked looking over at me.
"Always." I teased with a grin.
