"This place is a freak show..." I trailed off as I pulled out of Nicks embrace, he frowned in response and tightened his grip around my waist.
We were pulled out of our thoughts by the sound of a truck rumbling to life as it began to drive off,
"He's leaving." Stated Nick before grabbing my uninjured hand and leading me from the basement and the old creaky stairs, when we reached the top he turned to me,
"Alright, stay here, okay?" He said before jogging over to the garage door and checking for any signs of Bo. He then walked over to a box of tools and grabbed a spanner and a pair of pliers before handing me the latter.
"Alright... The cars by the road, but who's got the keys? Fuck. Dalton" he thought out loud, terror suddenly crossing his features when he thought about the whereabouts of his best friend, "I gotta call the cops!" He ran over to the phone behind the pay counter, desperately trying to get anything but the dial tone before smashing the phone down in anger.
"Shit!" He snapped, placing his hands on his head and running them over his closely shorn hair.
"Hey," he placed both his hands on my biceps before squeezing gently, "where's your cell phone?"
"It might be in the trunk up by the house?" He sighed turning and walking over to the door. "But what about Wade? What if he has him too? What if they turn him to wax?!"
"Why would they turn him to wax?" He asked sending me a glare as if I was joking.
"You don't get it!" I said, distress seeping into my voice, "they're all wax, everyone." Suddenly I remembered the old woman that pulled back the curtain." No, wait." I said walking past Nick and unlocking the door before I began jogging towards her house. "There was a woman in here, she was alive, she pulled the curtain back" I said yanking open the gate with my good hand before entering her front yard. Smiling slightly as Nick leapt over the fence and hopped up onto a ledge near the window, staring though the window, he continued to peer in, searching for the little old lady.
Suddenly the curtain was wrenched back, Nick jumped back with a startled Yelp, wielding his spanner infront of him. When the lady didn't move for another moment, hand stationary against the curtain i moved past Nick and peered in myself, frowning when I saw the waxy texture of the woman's skin and the metal mechanism that controlled the curtains movements.
"The whole town is rigged..." I mumbled in disbelief, turning towards Nick.
"That's impossible." He replied, voice gruff and unsure. He stepped up to the window again and watched as once again she pulled open the curtain once again, "your telling me, there's a person...underneath?" He wondered out loud.
"Yes." I snapped back, angry that he still hadn't understood the scary reality of the situation. "At the church they were all like that" pointing in the general direction of the church.
Nick turned with a look of shock on his face before putting a hand around my waist and pulling me to him, his other hand holding the back of my head in a comforting gesture.
"We have to find them." He spoke shakily.
"I know," I replied, tightening the hug.
