"Sh! Sh, sh, it's okay it's okay." Nick's familiar voice hushed quickly, hand loosening from my mouth turning me around and quickly pulling me into a brief hug before hurriedly leading me into the room he had just appeared from, I smiled hopefully when I saw a light shine brightly from a trap door, hidden amongst the floorboards, I followed Nick's swift pace towards it before suddenly I stopped.
"Nick...."
"Hm?" He replied not turning back to me but instead continuing his way down the trapdoor ladder stairs.
"Nick!" I repeated, anguish in my voice.
"What?!" He questioned in alarm, spinning round to face me, eyes searching mine for the cause of my shout, I swallowed loudly as he followed my eyes to the grotesque soggy patch on the carpet, corners oozing out the sticky substance, which then lodged itself into the gaps in the floorboards. There was too much blood for the person to be okay, Nick gulped, eyes skipping from the patch of blood to the trail that was left by whatever or whoever was dragged down the trapdoor before.
"How could you not have seen that?!" I snapped at him, eyes watering slightly.
"Shit Jessie..." He trailed off," look, there's no time for this, I know, I know, but we have to get out of here. C'mon." He leant over and grabbed my hand before pulling me towards the bloodied steps and down towards whatever was going to meet us at the bottom.
"Paige... And Blake. I saw they're bodies Nick. They're dead."
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before sighing and grabbing my hand,
"We gotta go." He lead the way down a decrepit and dank tunnel way, the walls were built up of wooden planks, cobweb coated and creepy.
There was a constant rumbling that echo'd through, presumably from some sort of generator, but in this place, nothing was as it seemed.
Placing our hands over our ears to block out the noise me and Nick continued past the generator, I held my breath as Nick peered round the corner but sighed in relief as he returned with a shrug before shouting.
"It's too dark, I can't see anything!" He then turned towards the wall, eyeing the 20 odd switches that lined it.
"One of them has got to be for the light right?" He questioned before clicking as many as he could.
"Nick!" I snapped," what are you doing? What if those are he lights for the rest of the house! Shit -" I was silenced by the light flickering to life and leaving us in its eerie fluorescent glow.
"You were saying?" He said with a grin, turning to face me in amusement.
We continued to creep through the rank corridors, the smell of damp assaulting our nostrils.
Suddenly Nick stopped dead in his tracks, body frozen in place.
"Nick?" I asked, walking up behind him, I tried to peek around him but his large frame filled out the small opening, preventing me from seeing.
"Nick?" I tried again, placing my hand gently on his back. "What's wrong?"
"J-Jess, we have to go back." He stuttered slightly, turning towards me with wide eyes.
"What? Nick this is the only way-"
"We have to go back."
"Nick- just let me see, what's wrong?" I tried to move passed him but he grabbed me roughly by the upper arms holding me in place.
"Ow Nick. What the fuck?"
"Jessie. Please... Don't look," stupidly I didn't listen, instead shrugging our of his grasp and barging past him, instantly regretting my choices. Blood covered the room, it was on the floor, up the walls, covering the metal trays filled with what looked like doctors utensils, towards the back was a large machine, covered in wax, a single figure sitting upright in a chair, unrecognisable due to the dried wax that coated his body. But what really caught my eye was the body of a man lying stationary on a padded table, arms and legs cuffed to the surface, blood and cuts littered his body, his face was bruised and sliced - God his face.
"Wade!" A strangle scream escaped my lips, and before I knew it I was next to him, tears streaming down my face, yanking at his restraints in a futile attempt to save my best friend, sobs tore through my chest as I ran my hands over his face and through his hair, silently begging him to speak to me, a single sound to break through his chapped, bloodied lips.
Suddenly there were hands around my waist lifting me away from him, pulling me back towards the entrance.
"Get off me! Get off me!" I screamed, kicking back and struggling to get back to Wade.
"Jess. Jessie he's dead. Please we have to go. " I let out a strangled sob, tears continued to stream down my face.
"D-don't you f-fucking touch h-h-" I swung my head up and stared in amazement as I heard the familiar voice of Wade. I felt the arms around me let go and I sprinted back towards him, hands hovering over his body once more.
"Wade?" I gasped gently cupping his face with my hand.
"H-hey kiddo..." He mumbled, eyes remaining closed as blood began to bubble at his lips.
"Shh.." I whispered, tears trailing down my face. "It's okay, we're good Wade, your good" he groaned in response, eyes screwed shut in pain. I looked around frantically in search of a rag or something that I could clean him up with and asses the damage, with no luck I ripped off the bottom of my shit, exposing my belly to the cold, stale air. Before rushing over to the rusted sink and coating it with cold water, hurriedly I began to wipe away the blood from his chest and torso, trying now to puke at the sight of the huge gash across his belly, and the small cuts littering the rest, before moving on to his face.
"Jess... It's no use. You have to go." Ignore his statement I dropped the rag and continued in vain to try and break the cuffs that secured him to the table.
" Nick!" I yelled in frustration, looking up to find my boyfriend inspecting the wax figure. "Please, help me with these."
"This thing looks familiar." Was the only reply I got.
"Nick!" I snapped angrily, terrified that if we took any longer Wade would die. He turned to me and nodded in understanding, searching the room for pliers or something that was able to break the restraints
. I turned back to wade, gently running my hand through his hair.
"It's okay." He spoke, startling me. "I know it's bad Jess... You have to leave, please. There's nothing you can do."
"Shh," I hushed." You fine, hey, remember that time when we were younger, and I ran out infront of that car and you tackled me so fast that I didn't even realise I was gonna get hit? You saved me then wade, and I'm gonna save you."
"Jess!" I turned quickly, just in time to catch the pliars Nick had thrown, I quickly turned towards Wade and began wrenching the handcuffs apart, one by one until he was free, within seconds Nick was next to me, hauling wade up and supporting his weight, before staggering towards the other side of the room and towards a door,
"Can you hold him?" He asked, gesturing to the barley conscious wade, I nodded in reply, wincing at the tiny whimpers that escaped his lips as Nick remover his arm from his waist and lent Wade against me.
Nick began to kick the door while I looked at the wax statue before me, Nick was right, it did look familiar...
I searched around the room for any evidence of who the stranger could be, eyes finally falling on a baseball hat. Dalton.
"Nick... It's Dalton." He froze, mid kick, turning to face me.
"What?"
"The figure... It's Dalton." Before he could reply there was a crash from the doorway, spinning round I saw Vincent running towards us.
"You mother fucker!" Screamed Nick, sprinting towards the masked man and tackling him to the ground, fists slamming into its emotionless face, until...
