Even in the blazing sunlight, every step in the Ancient Forest inspired fear, like you could be ambusbed at any given point. Conveniently, the Handler had a map on her.
Getting to Astera seemed simple enough on paper, but the two were stranded in the wilds with no weaponry. Haunting yellow eyes peered at them from the shadows of the flora. The Hunter placed resolve in his carving knife but they both knew it would only get them so far. The solution, avoid the forests - less hiding spots meant less chance of ambush... Or so they thought.

"H-help!!"
The Hunter had only looked away for a second, there was no way that the Handler could've been attacked that fast. The sunlight was blinding, this monster knew the exact moment to strike. The Hunter strained his eyes, running toward the Handler as she did her best to stave off a wild, snarling ... Woman?
"Don't mind me!!"
A strange man jumped onto the attacker, wrestling her to the ground and allowing the two just enough time to escape. He wielded an enormous and mighty blade, but was so far fighting the beast unarmed with the sole intention of buying time. The Hunter sprinted for the portcullis that lead to Astera, with the mysterious man from before joining shortly afterward.

Their pursuer was quick on her feet, slobber dribbling from her mouth. She was adorned with yellow and green scales, but bore a wiley yellow mane. Her golden reptilian glare gleamed with an insatiable hunger.
There's no way they can outrun her at this pace. The Hunter looked down at his carving knife, trying to think of a way out of this squeeze. "No...!" Everyone at the Wycademy praised him for his willingness to help people, and mastery of all the different Monster Hunter weapon disciplines, but now it would all mean nothing.
"I can't die here.." Right as he turned to face their pursuer, another party joined in - an even wilder beast. The sinews of her thighs were mighty, slowly begetting grey and pink scales from her knees down to her clawed feet.
"JAGRAS!!!!!" She roared, her throat shone a fiery glow. Black fur surrounded her nape.

The Hunter's eyes widened. "Jagras..?" This didn't match his Hunter Notes at all. Wasn't the Jagras a.. Monster?
"Fuck off, Anjanath! This is my kill!" The Jagras replied, bearing her teeth.
The Anjanath crouched down, "You think I'm here for those small fries?" She suddenly leapt into the air, drawing back her claws. "I'm just here to kick your ass!!" The Anjanath grabbed the Jagras by her face and slammed her into the dirt.

"Fiver, what are you doing? Come on!!"
The Fifth Fleet Hunter snapped out of his daze, before running for the portcullis. Right as the Jagras was thrown at him, he was able to jump to the other side and the unnamed Greatsword wielder from before managed to close the gate behind him.
