i drove off from zaxbys drive thru, on my way to someone who had called about an eighth. aria had been gone for about 4 hours and i was about to call her when my phone started ringing. i seen serena's name and i picked my phone up answering the facetime.

" yo? "

" tana? mommy cwying and gramma in the weeeeee wooooo "

i looked at brooklyn as i pulled up to a red light, " what girl? "

" where is my ph- brookyln give me my phone " i heard serena in the background and soon the phone was in her hand.

" serena what happened? " i looked at her and could tell she was crying.

" they just took mama in the ambulance, i don't know what's going on but we about to leave "

" ight im on my way "

" okay, drive safe please "

i turned around making a U turn and sped off to the hospital closest to my mama house. once i got there, i quickly parked and got out the car not forgetting to lock the doors.

" iris smith " i said to the receptionist as soon as i walked in since i seen her looking at me some type of way.

" and you are? "

" her son but ion think that shit matters right now, where the fuck she at? "

" um sir- "

" linda it's fine " i looked up and seen my ex, yazmeen. " follow me i can take you to her "

i rolled my eyes before following behind her.

" how have you been tana? " she asked as we got into the elevator.

" don't call me that shit " i glanced at her before looking ahead again.

" tana i really am sorry about ever-"

she nodded and the elevator doors opened. i followed her to the room door and watched as she opened it. once she did i saw my grandma may and my sister serena sitting in the room.

" tana! " serena quickly got up to hug me. her eyes were really red and i know she hadn't stopped crying since she got here.

" what happened? "

" she was walking and then she fell and she couldn't breathe, the doctors haven't told us much but she's been sleep since we got here " my grandma explained and i nodded.

" i can't lose her taneal " serena spoke into my shirt as she continued crying.

" relax " we sat back down on the couch. " where's brooklyn? "

" quis came to get her "

the door opened and we looked up seeing yazmeen again. i heard my grandma may groan and i shook my head.

" what girl? "

" i just wanted to come check on iris "

" it's ms. smith to you bitch " serena spoke.

" tana? " i heard my mother speak barely above a whisper causing me to turn my head in her direction. i let go of serena and walked over to the side of her bed.

" i'm here ma, you good? "

" i'm okay baby " she smiled and grabbed my hand.

" we can't lose you ma "

she shook her head, " you can't interfere with god's plan "

" ma- "

" you will be fine tana, take care of your sister and take care of aria. i love you "

" i love you too " i felt my eyes start to water.

" let me talk to serena "

i turned to look at serena and nodded before backing away from her bed.

i saw yazmeen mutter something before walking out.

" dumb bitch "

" i'm gonna go fill out the paperwork " my grandma may said before she left the room as well.

i watched my sister and mom interact. serena laid her head on our mothers shoulder and continued to cry.

" iris smith " a nurse came back into the room with grandma may. " we're ready when you are miss "

i went to stand on the side of my mother's bed again. i grabbed her hand as she looked at all three of us.

" i'm at peace, and you will be too " she smiled. " soon "

" i love you mom "

grandma may kissed her forehead before grabbing selena and we all walked out of the room.

" i'm gonna take her home, call me when you get the chance baby "

i nodded and hugged my grandma before leaving to my car. i kept feeling my eyes water as i drove but i tried not to pay too much attention to it.

once i made it home, i immediately rolled up. i looked over hearing my phone ring and seeing aria's contact name before powering off my phone.
