"Lex! Is it true?"
"Lex! Can you confirm the incident?"
"Were you responsible for the assault?"
"Were you the only one in the locker room with Kent?"
Lena wished that she could move past this. Move past the constant scrutiny of the media. Past the threats because of her family. Past the court dates. But she couldn't. What her family had done was atrocious. The biggest scandal in the history of the Olympic Games. Causing a huge media war between two of the best competing countries. All because Lex couldn't handle someone taking his precious gold medal.
The memories flooded in as she returned for the second time to the Olympic village. The last time she would be shooting her shot at gold on the rink, since last year was brutally disrupted with devastation and caused her to back out before her first skate of the season due to pressure. But this time, she was ready. She has made the best career comeback anyone could possibly imagine, becoming #1 ranked female skater in the world for 3 consecutive years.
She had no room for mistakes. Her last name was enough to build a reputation against her. The only way she could keep credibility was to stay at the top and only win. Although the US team and Olympic committee had several debates on whether she could compete in the Olympics, with her adoptive mother Lillian as her coach, they ultimately came to the decision that there is no proof that either were involved in the incident. Thus, allowing her and Lillian back into the sport.
But Lena knew the truth. Lillian was guilty. She didn't help commit the crime. But she immediately helped cover it up.
Due to the Luthor's wealth, the case had been dropped when involving Lillian into the investigation. With that, Lena was to sign an NDA, which rendered her say on the subject of her mother's involvement.
It was FINALLY starting to get better. Less threats. Less harassment. Less media. The public had moved on.
That's until news broke a few months ago that the cousin of Clark Kent has made a miraculous rise in female skating ranking, #15, qualifying her for the 2022 female figure skating Olympic Games.
Hell broke loose. The biggest news channels between the US and Canada have had coverage on the both of them for the last few months, causing all out wars over the two opposing skaters.
There had been speculation. Threats towards both athletes. Gossip amongst the masses. It become, once again, a PR nightmare. The media was running rampant with articles upon articles about the two skaters, tearing them both apart.
So here she is, fresh off a long flight, riding to the infamous Olympic Village.
Her mother requested she stay away from the other athletes, but Lena put her foot down, since this was her last olympics and she wanted to try to be with the other skaters and as normal as possible, attempting to block out the rest of the world, without her access to her phone.
Due to the threats, the Olympic board had approved for both Lena and Kara to bring security to stay in close quarters within the village. Her guard for several years, and old friend, Jack, was there with her to keep an eye out and ensure her safety around others in the facility.
They arrive to the massive campus. It is beautiful with several gyms, studios, rinks, and other amenities for the other winter athletes. Pretty much catered to host Olympic athletes. Her driver pulls up to the building dedicated to the skaters, closest to the rinks.
Taking a deep breath. Lena opens the door. And steps out of the car.
*************
The Canada team's shuttle pulls away from the the airport, for its short drive to the campus of the Olympic Village.
