ᴛʜᴇ ɢɪʀʟ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ᴋɴɪᴠᴇs Clove Kentwell is smart, sadistic, and quiet. She lurks in the shadows, training for the games that she truthfully doesn't want to enter. However, family problems and an overwhelming pressure to bring pride to her district lands her as District 2's number one pick for female tribute.
ᴛʜᴇ ʙᴏʏ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ sᴡᴏʀᴅ Cato Hadley is charming and arrogant with a high ego. He entices trainers and sponsors with his abilities with a sword, although he is quite skilled in other areas of practice as well. He spends his free time divided by training, parties, and hanging out with whoever his girlfriend is at the time. Cato is the true "golden boy" of District Two.
sʏɴᴏᴘsɪs It's no wonder why Clove hates Cato so much. He's arrogant and oblivious, two things that Clove hates. When the two are forced to get closer to one another for training, Clove starts to question her true feelings towards Cato, and to the games in general.
