MURDER AT HOGWARTS by Rita Skeeter

After last night's tragic events, Hogwarts School is no longer the safe haven it used to be. Believed to be the work of an insider at Hogwarts, a fourth year student was found dead on a third floor corridor by her best friend Lacey Finn. Hufflepuffer, Orsay Westwall's mangled remains are too horrid to show but we are able to describe the wounds.

Specialists from the Ministry of Magic have been called in and they can clarify that she was not killed by any kind of curse, but by a large blade forging a large wound on her back.

A befuddled Hogwarts headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, says, "I have great faith that no Hogwarts teacher or student would or could do such a thing." But when saying this, it was obvious that old Albus Dumbledore was confused beyond measure. It is clear now that the protective enchantments placed on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at the start of the year were not strong enough to hold out the killer. This suggests that either the murderer is an advanced wizard (or had assistance breaking in), that gaga old Albus Dumbledore was lying in saying that protective enchantments were in fact placed, or that the killer was indeed a student or teacher at Hogwarts School.

An investigation shows that Orsay Westwall had grudges against many Hogwartians being the misunderstood misfit that she was. The specialists from the Ministry said briefly that there was nothing unusual about her death, but after questioning the victim's best friend Lacey, it was discovered that Orsay's mother had in fact died of a terrible case of Spattergroit six days before. If this had passed on to Orsay, this could be a reason for her death. But this wouldn't explain the large wound on her back.

It is still unclear what happened to the murderer after he killed the girl and if he was assisted in any way. If the murderer was not a teacher or student, that doesn't mean to say that an insider couldn't have helped him break entry into the castle. It was not clarified if the murderer was even a wizard, or in fact, human. This could lead to former Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, Remus Lupin, the werewolf or Rubeus Hagrid, half-giant who was once believed responsible for opening the Chamber of Secrets.

The investigation at Hogwarts will continue, and new rules are to be introduced. Ministry officials will be sent to Hogwarts first thing in the morning, proving that the Minister of Magic does not trust that ageing Dumbledore can keep his students safe. Many others, including myself, agree with the Minister. This wouldn't be the first time Albus Dumbledore had slipped up. Perhaps it's time for the old dingbat to move on.

The Minister assures that under the new terms, it would be almost impossible for another murder to occur and looks upon the death of Orsay as a terrible loss. A funeral is to be held for the girl tomorrow evening.

The last words of the Evening Prophet's article were obscured by the tears of Lacey Finn. She closed the paper, enraged and nauseous. Now the world thought of her dead best friend as a "misunderstood misfit". Why had she ever agreed to be interviewed by that fowl Skeeter woman? How could she have been so disloyal to her best friend?

Lacey doubled over in the girls' bathroom and wretched. She wanted everything to go away. The guilt, the misery, the fear. But little did she know that the horrible events were only just beginning
