Chapter 3

Chris will be taking me to school today. He has his own car since he drives. We got to school at 8:00am exactly, just in time for biology class. It's about a week to the presentation day and I still don't have a partner. Everyone was sitting with their partners. Sharon was sitting with Hovan, Betty with Nathan, Chris with Beatrix and of course I was sitting alone, but so was Keziah, Osborne and Jeff. Remember Osborne? Hovan's best friend.
This clearly meant that either Keziah or I would end up being Jeff's lab partner.
"I hope you all have your partners. If not, do well to get one today" Mr. Dupone said to the class.

After class I was packing some books into my locker when I saw Jeff walking towards me. Before he could reach me, Keziah called out his name and the next thing I noticed, he was being dragged away by her. What in the world did she tell him?
" Hey, you know tryouts for the various clubs are today right?" Betty asked when she got to me.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm ready" I answered.
I locked my locker and went to the lounge with her to relax a bit before tryouts begin.

We are all trying out for a club. Betty and I are trying out for the cheerleading team. Chris has already made the basketball's varsity team just as Hovan and Osborne too have made the swim team. But guess what? Beatrix, Keziah and Sharon are all trying out for the cheerleading team too. Jeffrey on the other hand is trying out for both the swim team and basketball team. That's insane but who knows? He might actually make both teams.

Thirty minutes after everyone had given them their all, they mentioned the names of all the people who made the cheer team. Apparently, Beatrix, Sharon, Betty and I all made it on the team, unlucky Keziah didn't. The Bronxens is the name of our cheer team and I'm a proud member.

I went to watch Jeffrey's tryouts and just like I thought, he made both teams. He run to me, hugged me and lifted me up. That was when I saw Hovan and Osborne coming from behind. I asked him to put me down and so he did.

Hovan came to me and held my waist. "So Jeffrey you made both teams huh?" Hovan asked
"Yeah, I did, any problem?"
"Oh no, no, it's all good...congrats by the way"
They gave each other some weird bro hug and left together leaving me with Osborne.
"Hey Hermione, I've been wanting to ask" he said
"Umm...go on, I'm listening"
"Will you be my lab partner?" He asked shyly
"Uh...uh...uh...I...uh...?"
"Relax, you don't have to answer now" he said cutting me off.
"I'd like to take you home today though" he said.
"Uhh...sure, why not?" I replied

On our way outside the school, I had a call from Betty. She asked where I was and I told her i was okay and not to worry.

On our ride home I couldn't stop thinking. Why does he want to be my lab partner? Why did he stare at Hovan and I so weirdly the other day? Why is he even driving me home?

I need to understand.
"What are you thinking about?" He asked offering me snacks
"Uh...it's nothing and I'm good" I said

Now we are at my house and he wants to take me in. I found it very weird but I didn't want to be rude so I agreed. We met Katie when we entered. She greeted and I responded, she also greeted Osborne. I'm surprised she still remembers him.

So Osborne led me to my room as if it were his and hanged my bad for me. He started staring at me, not saying a word. He slowly walked towards me and I walked backwards till my back hit the wall and his body was pressed against mine. He looked me in the eye and then looked at my lips then moved back saying "goodbye Hermione"
