Chapter 7

It's a week to my final semester exams. I've learned more than I have partied for the last month. I'm really looking forward to passing my exams, meeting my siblings and getting to know them. Yesterday felt like a movie. Dad just told mom that he had told me everything already.

Hovan is dating the new girl, Shirley Williams after breaking up with Sharon after dating her for less than a month, but I don't care because I'm over him.

I haven't told my friends about what's been going on in my life yet. I don't know how I'm going to tell them. I'm not really sure about my plans to go to India this vacation since I will be meeting my siblings and all.

Osborne and Aileen broke up after some crazy fight. So currently he is single since I turned him down and for your information, I'M ALSO VERY SINGLE. Chris and Krisha are still "friends".
Our annual dance is a week after our exams to end the semester but I don't have a date yet. Anyways, this week is for intense studying and cheer practice for the basketball game this Saturday. Jeff ended up picking basketball so I've got to practice hard to cheer him on. It's going to be a stressful week but I've got it.

we are presenting another project for exams and Jeff is my partner. Hovan is with Shirley Williams. She is an African American girl who seems like a nice person. I actually feel sorry for her since she is with Hovan. Their energies do not match at all. I'm not bothered or anything I'm just stating a fact.

Okay it's time for cheerleading practice and basketball practice which means I won't be there to watch Jeff and Chris but that's okay.
I got home at 4:05pm and was exhausted. I quickly changed into my uniform and took a really long bath. I walked out of my bathroom into my bedroom in a robe just to see Hovan seated uncomfortably on my bed.
"How the hell did you get into my room?" I asked sounding angry
" Relax babe" he said standing up and walking to me. He held my waist and kissed me. I pushed him back and slapped him.
"What do you think you're doing? You even have a girlfriend" I said angrily
"Look, I love you, I really do, the only reason why I slept with Sharon was because you wouldn't have sex with me"
" You disgust me" I said in a low tone. I opened the door for him to walk out but unfortunately Jeff was at the door about walking in. He looked confused but at least Hovan what's out.
"It's not what you think" I blurted out
"Don't worry, I heard everything" he answered me
" I'll wait in your study since you are about to dressing up" he said with a grin
" Okay, sure" I mumbled and he smirked.

I dressed up in booty shorts and a sweater from Nike. I went to my study room. We talked for a while then studied together.
He joined my family for dinner and I introduced him to my parents as a friend. He left after dinner.
"Are you sure he is just a friend?" Mom asked giggling
"Yes I am" I responded and we all laughed. I actually had a great day.

Okay, yesterday was great but what about today?

It's 6:35am I've been studying since 5:00am but I'm starving so I'm going down to breakfast.
"You been studying a lot now" dad said
"Yeah...I have" I responded
"Okay enough. Both of you just eat" mom said to us. We both laughed. I took my stuff and joined Jeff outside since he is taking me to school today.

I was at the girls locker room when I realised Shirley Williams standing beside me. I turned to her with a puzzling look.
"Hey, I'm Shirley" she said fumbling with her fingers
" Uhh...I know who you are" I retorted
" Oh... okay...uhh...you are..."
" Hermione" I said cutting in
" Enjoy your day" she said
" Uh... you too and thanks" I said and walked away.

Little did I know that I was going to meet her again at cheerleading practice. It turns out she is trying out and she actually isn't bad.

She made the team and I really don't know if I am supposed to be excited or not. After practice, I was sitting down trying to get some air when she walked to me. This time she went straight to the point.
"Hey there, wanna hang out after school today?" She asked smiling at me
" Uhh... Why the hell not?" I responded and we both laughed.

We walked to the girls locker room together talking and laughing. She really is a nice person.

On my way to class, I saw Betty and Chris also walking to class. Before I could walk in, my hand was held and I was pulled back.
"Where the hell have you been?" Chris asked
"Umm...um... Cheerleading practice" I said. Betty rolled her eyes.
" Yeah, we know that but we mean where have you been generally? You're hardly online, you don't answer our calls, you don't call us, we haven't really been with you in like forever. So, where-the hell-have-you been?" She asked.
" Oh, I'm sorry guys, practice and studying and all" I answered
" So let's hang today...after school" Chris suggested
" Uh...not possible today, i'm sorry, tom..."
" Just great, more excuses" Betty cut in

I really don't know what I can say to justify my actions. They walked out on me and went to class. They were already seated when I walked in. My book fell when I got to the centre of the class, Shirley walked in next, picked up my book and handed it over to me. Everyone just stared at us weirdly till we took our seats.I noticed my friends staring at me intently, and trust me, I did not feel comforting.

After school, Shirley joined me and we went to Domino's.I was surprised to find out that she knew Domino's and actually stays just a few blocks from my house.

We both ordered chips and dip. We talked a lot and when it was 6:00pm she had to leave. I gave her a lift home and I am still in shock. I really really like her, her simplicity is shocking.I actually thought she was the rich girl faking her attitude towards me but she isn't.
She doesn't live in any big fancy Mansion like I do. She doesn't have a penthouse as a personal home like I do. She doesn't even have a driver to drive her around in a fancy car like I do. Her mom isn't the founder of any fashion brand and her dad doesn't own any hotel like mine does but she is still nice to people and I like that about her. I'm so sad she's dating that fool, Hovan.
"you know I am your boyfriend's ex right?" I asked
"Yeah I do" she answered
"So why are you being so nice to me?" I asked.
"I don't know...I...I guess I just wanted to know you for who you really are and not for what he has told me" she answered
" Oh... okay"
" Yeah, I like what I found" she said and I smiled at her. I sat in the car and we waved each other as the car drove off.

I got home some minutes later.
"Well someone seems happy" mom said immediately she saw me.
"Why? Did Jeff kiss you?" She teased
"Oh my God mom"I said laughing. I am happy,I don't know if it's because of Shirley or my mom but I'm happy and I like it.

The basketball game is tomorrow so I need to have enough rest. I haven't really been around with my friends for some time now. Betty and Chris were right. I feel it myself but I feel like I need space. They don't even know about my mom or siblings yet but I do plan on telling them.

Today is the big day. The game is that 12:00pm and I have practice from 9:00am to 10:45am. It's against a school called Marilyn Academy in God knows where.

I woke up and left for practice after having a Starbucks breakfast. We were supposed to have cheer partners, mine ended up being Shirley. I have two people to cheer on today. One of my best friends, Chris and a really good friend, Jeff.

Okay so now it's time for the game. Marilyn academy's team came out first with their cheer squad cheering for them then Bronx high's team came next with our cheer squad cheering for them. Our basketball team is called "The Bulldogs" and we are the Bronxens. Marilyn Academy's basketball team is called "The Wolfs" and their cheer squad is called "The Willocks".

The winners of the game is the bulldogs. We were all so happy. Cheering them on like never before. The Willocks walked to our team to congratulate us. One girl on their team looked really familiar and she kept staring at me as if we knew each other but honestly, I'm too excited to care.Chris ran to me and hug me really tight then he went to Betty. I looked around for Jeff, but there was no sign of him. Shirley came to me and hugged me too. I left and went to the schools lounge. Jeff was there, it was as if I knew he would be there. I hugged him and congratulated him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me and I kissed him back.we went back to the courts together with his arm around my waist stirring attention from the crowd. I'm just so happy they won.

I noticed that girl I mentioned earlier still staring at me but she didn't walk to me or talk to me. I brushed it off and went on with my day.
We went to HB restaurant for a celebratory dinner. Just Betty, Chris, Jeff and I. I wanted to invite Shirley but I didn't. I actually missed them. I missed this. We talked and laughed and talked and laughed. These people really are special to me.
"Will you be my date to the dance?" Jeff asked
" Yes, I will" I answered
