One day was fine, I was busy with my soreness and writing everything I learned about their anatomy. Two days was mostly alright, I kept busy. When two became three, which bled into four and five and six... I'm starting to think Ronan is staying away forever.

Maybe this is the way of the intergalactic one-night stand? Is he a cosmic playboy, ravishing the women from planet after planet, collecting his menagerie of extraterrestrial notches in his bedpost?

I knew men on earth that were smooth with the lines... maybe all of his heartbeat talk was just...talk.

Tying my hair into a ball on top of my head, I climb into my bed... which is really his bed...

With a sigh, I cover my face with the pillow. Maybe it will smother me in my sleep and put me out of my misery.

I feel my body drifting, consciousness becoming hazy as I fall into dream-addled sleep. He haunts my thoughts both waking and sleeping. I can't escape him.

I dream of his hands, his skin, and silky hair... I'm engulfed in him, surrounded and filled. He's everywhere...

Shooting straight up in bed, there is nothing but deep purple silence. Outside, rain falls from the sky, glowing drops like tiny, flickering flames. As I stand from the bed, I can't tell if I'm floating or walking.

Standing just inside, under the cover of the ceiling, I stare out at the endless sky.

"Nicole," his voice behind me doesn't startle me for once. I knew he was here. I could feel it.

His body tucks in closely to mine, his feet on either side of mine, his bare chest pressed against my back his arms circling my shoulders. My skin tingles under his touch.

"I thought of you constantly," he reaches one hand out, catching a drop of water in his palm and bringing it in for me to see.

"I missed you, too."

All of the nervousness and doubts, the insecurities, are washed away by the gentle touch of his hands.

Leaning my head against his bicep, I run one of my fingers through the tiny droplet. I can't tell if the water is purple or if it's just reflecting the sky.

"Is everything alright?"

He sighs and squeezes me tighter against him. "For now. I tried to return each day, but it was not possible. Everyone presented me with obstacles that forced me to stay."

Spinning to face him, I press a kiss to the spiraling mark in the center of his chest. Quickly lifting me, he brings his mouth to mine. His grip on my thighs is soft, but his mouth is not. His lips are aggressive, nipping and sucking on mine. He steps out from under the protection of the room and onto the balcony. The warm drops of rain cool my burning skin.

From the pit of my stomach, a gnawing ache grows, spreading, corrosive and devastating through my veins. Surely, he can reach it, he can massage it away.

With nimble fingers, he pulls the tie from my hair, letting my wet strands fall around us, sticking to my face, and his, as the rain soaks it completely.

"You are wearing my clothing," he growls as his hand runs up my back, over the fabric of his shirt.

"I missed you," I moan as he tugs it up, rendering me naked in his arms.

The rain runs down his skin, dripping from his chin. He's beautiful. Towering and strong yet still soft. The universe swirls in his eyes as he reaches down with one hand to yank his pants down. With a groan, he's free, pressed between my body and his.

"Ronan, please," I start to beg but he's lifting me before I can finish.

Holding my thighs, he lowers my body down, impaling me tortuously slow.
